What kind of café is Coffee Dripper? Inside Chodang Tofu Village, next to Toetmaru

Coffee Dripper is a roastery café on Nanseolheon-ro in Gangneung's Chodang Tofu Village. I had lunch in the tofu village and was looking for a nearby café when I found Coffee Dripper! It's located right next to the famous café Toetmaru.

There's a separate dedicated parking lot for the store, right next to Toetmaru's parking lot, so it's a bit hectic, but seeing customers at neighboring cafés circling around unable to park makes you grateful you can actually park here.

Coffee Dripper is a roastery café that's been operating in Gyodong, Gangneung since 2012 and also offers hand drip coffee. It sells its own roasted beans and bakes its own desserts — a café made for travelers! The indoor tables are spaced generously, making it a nice place to rest, and the outdoor seating gets great natural light, which must be lovely on a sunny day.

Coffee Dripper's signature menu and what we ordered

Coffee Dripper's signature items are the dripper latte, the cone choco latte — a rich latte served in a chocolate-coated waffle cone cup — and the tofu pudding made with Gangneung Chodang tofu. I'd already devoured Chodang tofu at lunch, but I couldn't resist the tofu pudding, so I ordered the cone choco latte and tofu pudding!

Bar seats by the full-height windows: how does the cone choco latte taste?

I was heading outside but it was a bit warm, so I sat at the indoor bar table instead — the windows are so well kept it still felt like being outdoors. Total good-vibes energy with these menu items!

The cone choco latte is meant to be eaten while melting the chocolate coating, so only hot coffee is available for it — but I'm a hot coffee person anyway, so that worked out great! Being a roastery café, the coffee itself is really good. I expected it to taste like a chocolate latte, but it wasn't too sweet — just a hint of chocolate aroma added, and it was delicious.

Chodang tofu pudding served with yuja (citron) syrup

A pudding as tasty as it is flashy-looking — mellow, tangy, and sweet all at once! The nutty flavor of tofu comes through in the rich pudding, topped with tart berries, and the yuja (citron) syrup served on the side is sweet and tangy, pairing perfectly.

The balance between the warm, hearty latte and the cool, sweet-tangy tofu pudding was really good.

The best part: the chocolate waffle cone down to the white chocolate tip

And here's the big twist?! I thought the chocolate waffle cone was just for Instagram photos (?), just for looks (?) — but this is actually so good! I never really eat the cone even with ice cream, but this one wasn't soggy at all — the chocolate coating stayed intact and crunchy the whole time I drank the coffee, and delicious especially at the very end (?), the white chocolate tip! It's genuinely so good, I strongly recommend eating it all the way to the end even if you're full!

Is Coffee Dripper in Gangneung worth a stop?

Coffee Dripper, located inside Gangneung's Chodang Tofu Village! The wood-toned interior styled like a greenhouse is charming, and the bright indoor space with natural light pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the high ceilings, plant-filled corners, and variety of seating make it a great café to rest at during your travels — plus it's a roastery café with genuinely good coffee. If you're visiting Chodang Tofu Village, I recommend enjoying good coffee and a relaxed space here!
