I draw my eyebrows on every single time I do makeup, but honestly I never really knew what brow shape actually suited my face!! I once tried grooming them myself and shaved off too much on one side, so the two sides kept drifting further apart into a full-on disaster. Minjei Makeup is within walking distance of Gangnam Station. If you park at Acro-Tel Gangnam Station, they give you a 70-minute free parking voucher.

Gangnam is one of those areas where driving usually means worrying about parking, but with free parking support here you can bring your car without stress (though Gangnam traffic is always jammed... so public transport is highly recommended!!)

Walking into the shop, the first thing that caught my eye was Minjei Makeup's red sign. (When I asked, apparently red is a lucky color in the artist's saju — hence all the red 🤣)

As soon as I walked in I could see the impressive career history of the artist 0ㅇ0. I'd naturally assumed it would be a female artist, but that assumption was completely wrong... (bad joke, sorry 🤮) The artist has been working as a makeup artist for a long time too, so I got tips not just on brows but on overall makeup styling — genuinely great. Everyone should stop by at least once in their life... 💛

Before and after: how Minjei Makeup evened out uneven brows

1–2 weeks earlier I'd trimmed the tail ends myself with thinning scissors ㅜㅜ — but please, no self-trimming or thinning before your visit!!!! Zoomed in on the photo, it's even clearer: before grooming there were stray hairs from the head to the tail of the brow, and the overall line was a bit blurry.

Faint traces of old eyebrow tattoo left too...! A friend once described my brows as "gimbap" (seaweed rice roll) ^___^

Especially when grooming alone, I never knew where to stop and where to start cutting!!!!!! My brow arch is dramatic and the brows themselves are thick and dark, so when I told my mom I was going to get them done, she said, "Ask them to make it cute! Baby-faced, make me look younger than Seongmin!!" ^^;;

The artist asked about what style I wanted — whether I wanted to keep the arch, whether I preferred them thinner. I said, 'I'll trust the expert completely, and go as Young~ as possible' (^^), which was a lot of pressure to dump on them~ hehe 😊✨

Are you hot? Do you run warm inside!? / Yeah... I think I have a lot of built-up anger..>.< / 0-0 Ohh~ (turns the fan up to high 💨)

After the consultation, they design and groom using an eyebrow razor and scissors. (No sketch outline, just shok-shok-shok~ so fast) They told me 'Young' was simply not going to happen lol, and recommended going for sophistication instead. I said 'I want to be a Seoul girl~!!! (_a Gyeonggi native)', and they sort of agreed(?) that I'd have a baby face eventually~ (fellow sufferer 😁)

It's not the waxing method where hair gets ripped out — instead they trim only what's needed with a razor and scissors, worth keeping in mind. To really feel the difference, I had one side groomed first and took a photo.

Oh... whoa, it's noticeably cleaner. While I was busy chatting away with the artist, one side got finished super fast~ㅋㅇㅋ

At first I thought, does trimming just one eyebrow really change that much? But side by side with the before photo, the difference was unmistakable. What I loved was..!

They didn't just thin them out randomly or switch to a completely different shape. The existing brow texture was kept naturally while the messy, spread-out parts got cleaned up, so the whole line felt way more defined. Especially with the tail of the brow tidied up, my whole look became x1,000,000 times cleaner~!

Best of all, it never had that overdone "I just got my brows done!!!" look — it felt naturally like my own brows. Where the original front-of-brow position was slightly off on one side, that was corrected with makeup!! And on the right, the tail arch had been over-plucked at some point causing the asymmetry, so they told me to just grow it out to balance it back (right, teacher? Are you watching this ㅎ)

And after finishing with a brow pencil and mascara, I looked in the mirror and silently screamed 'I'm so pretty >0<' (internally). It looked completely natural, like my brows had just always been pretty. So I kept checking the mirror, checking the photo... checking again.🙂↕️❤️

My brows became something I keep wanting to look at ♡ I want to live with these brows forever....>_< That's the one-line summary of this whole review lol

What to know before booking Minjei Makeup

There are a few things worth knowing before your visit. Since they design using an eyebrow razor and scissors, if your current brows are too short or heavily thinned, the work may be difficult. In particular, if you self-groomed within 1–2 weeks before your visit, it's often hard to proceed, so it's recommended you inquire before booking~!

Also, if your brow asymmetry is severe and needs detailed consultation, there's a separate asymmetry consultation option, worth checking when booking.

There are also shop notices — must-read before visiting!! I didn't read them and got asked why not >,<ㅋㅋㅋ (this is condensed, so search the location on Naver and read the full notice)

• Minjei Makeup's eyebrow grooming shop operates as a shop-in-shop, running as two separate business locations.
• Reservations: Naver Reservation is the most convenient, with real-time booking available — recommended.
• On eyebrow grooming: consultation first, then design and grooming using an eyebrow razor & scissors. Because razor & scissors are used, if brows are too short (too thinly shaved), the work may not be possible. (If your brow thickness or length has become too thin or short, please inquire via Naver Talk or KakaoTalk channel first for confirmation.)
• While waiting: if you arrive early or the previous session runs late, you can wait inside.
• If you're more than 10 minutes late to your reservation without contact, it will be treated as a no-show with no refund.

Who Minjei Makeup eyebrow grooming suits best

Personally, I'd especially recommend this to anyone thinking, "why do my brows look so messy, how do I even fix this ㅜ0ㅜ" It's a great fit for people who want a clean design based on their current brows rather than a totally new shape.

Also worth it (mandatory, even?) for anyone who never knows where to stop when drawing brows daily, or keeps ending up asymmetrical from self-grooming. Comparing my before-and-after photos made me realize just how much eyebrow shape controls your overall impression (after getting mine done, I watched a BLACKPINK Jisoo video and once again felt the power of brows).

It's a smaller change than you'd expect, but it shifted my whole face from a cute image to a more sophisticated one!! These are my own brows but I keep catching myself staring at them lol. Satisfied ♡
