Sumi dakbokkeumtang ingredients

Large boneless Sumi dakbokkeumtang

Sumi dakbokkeumtang is a rich, deeply flavored spicy chicken stew with boneless chicken, a blend of herbal and beef-bone broths, plenty of Sumi potatoes, and vegetables.

Its lightly sweet flavor and deep savoriness went so well together that I finished a bowl of rice in no time.

Dakbokkeumtang with glass noodles

We ordered the large, and it was truly packed with ingredients. I also loved that it came with glass noodles from the start, without needing to add them separately.

The spicy pepper rice is the kind of thing that brings back even a lost appetite—an absolute recommendation! The tender boneless chicken was easy to eat without picking around bones, and the generous Sumi potatoes and vegetables made for a wonderfully deep, rich flavor. There was no unpleasant chicken smell at all. The broth was gently spicy, pleasantly sharp, and clean, too!

Mash the egg yolk into the broth and eat it together—it is seriously delicious.

They also gave us a big bowl of rice topped with seaweed flakes, and mixing it into the stew was really delicious.

The sweet-and-spicy seasoning had soaked right into the chicken, and it was so, so delicious.

Sweet-and-spicy dakbokkeumtang seasoning

My mom said it was delicious too, and the sweet-and-spicy seasoning had soaked right into the chicken—it was really, really so good.
