On cool, pleasant days like these, taking my mother out for some outdoor shopping and a good meal is one of those small, sure sources of happiness. But when I eat out with my parents, taste matters of course, but I also end up paying closer attention to the overall mood and cleanliness of the place, and whether ordering and moving around is easy.

This time, the place my mother and I visited together for a cozy little mood-changer was Bueokgan, a European-style restaurant inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets! Being right inside the outlet made it super convenient to stop by while shopping, and from the entrance you could already feel that warm, classic European atmosphere — my mood lifted before I even stepped in.

Where Bueokgan is in the Gijang outlet mall, and its opening hours

Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is located at 1F 180-ho, 1133 Jeonggwan-ro, Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea. Hours are Monday–Thursday 10:30–20:30 (last order 20:00), Friday–Sunday 10:30–21:00 (last order 20:30).

What the European-style interior at Bueokgan looks like

The moment I stepped inside Bueokgan, I could feel that warm, classic mood all over me, like walking into a cozy European kitchen or a nicely atmospheric mountain lodge.

Overall, the cream-toned vintage walls, warm wood moldings, and deep burgundy red accents blended together to give a luxurious yet cozy feeling. The soft pleated lights hanging from the ceiling lit the tables warmly, making it a real selfie spot too — photos came out beautifully.

The table layout was also very spacious. From luxurious, plush sofa seats where you can sit comfortably together, to antique wooden chair seats, to privately divided booth seating — there was a variety, making it just as suitable for a mother-daughter date as for a family gathering.

Lush green plants placed here and there, stylish framed pictures, and vintage props like a rocking horse added charming little accents, making it fun just to look around.

Baby chairs and baby tableware for families with children

Especially for family guests visiting with young children, one side of Bueokgan has plenty of clean, sturdy baby chairs, and baby tableware is fully prepared too — thoughtful touches that stood out for a family-friendly dining spot.

Tablet ordering at the table and how the dishes look

At Bueokgan, once we settled into our seats, we conveniently ordered through the tablet set up at each table! Each menu item came with a high-resolution photo attached, making it really easy to get a sense of the menu at a glance and choose.

After some deliberation with my mother, today's picks were — the napa cabbage Caesar salad, arugula prosciutto pizza, a hot americano, and a refreshing grapefruit ade!

Napa cabbage Caesar salad: crisp and light

The first to arrive, the napa cabbage Caesar salad, used whole fresh napa cabbage (al배추), and its distinctly crunchy texture was really appealing. The more you chewed, the more a subtle, natural sweetness from the cabbage itself spread through your mouth.

On top of that, a generous, rich, creamy Caesar dressing was drizzled on without holding back, and the moisture of the cabbage paired fantastically with the savory dressing. What could easily be a bland vegetable dish was completed with salty cheese powder, crunchy bacon chips, and croutons for a satisfying textural contrast.

Even my mother, who regularly enjoys salads, couldn't help but praise it. It wasn't heavy but woke up the appetite refreshingly, and it was clean and perfect to have alongside the pizza in between bites, almost like a pickle.

Arugula prosciutto pizza with chewy dough

Next up, the main dish — arugula prosciutto pizza — was piled high with fragrant, slightly bitter arugula and salty, deeply flavorful prosciutto. The combination with the chewy, mild dough was fantastic, and I enjoyed it all the way down to the last bit of crust.

Hot americano and grapefruit ade

Add to that a freshly brewed, warm and deep-flavored americano, and a grapefruit ade bursting with sharp fizz and sweet-tart flavor, and all the everyday fatigue melted away — a truly healing mother-daughter date.

Verdict: would the writer return to Bueokgan?

💬 Bueokgan at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets was a Gijang Western food spot that perfectly balanced a charming, warm atmosphere, thoughtful convenience, and delicious, good-looking main dishes.

With baby chairs well prepared, I'd highly recommend it for family meals with kids as well as for a mother-daughter date or as part of an outlet shopping trip. Both my mother and I were so satisfied with the meal that whenever I come shopping at the Busan outlet, I'll definitely be revisiting Bueokgan, the go-to pizza spot in Gijang!
