I finally made it to Bobo Sikdang, the Apgujeong Rodeo spot I'd been eyeing since watching Culinary Class Wars 2. Living up to chef Jang Bo-won's three-generation Chinese cooking legacy and its Blue Ribbon title, this was the most impactful and delicious Chinese restaurant I've been to in a while, so let me break down the whole visit haha.

Chef Jang Bo-won's Chinese dining, a repeat Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon pick

Bobo Sikdang is a Chinese dining restaurant led by chef Jang Bo-won, who has 20 years of experience continuing a three-generation family tradition. It's been picked consecutively for Blue Ribbon, Red Ribbon, and Seoul's 100 Tastes, and drew attention after appearing on Culinary Class Wars 2.

Walking in, the Blue Ribbon formality blends with the casual, trendy sensibility of a Red Ribbon spot, creating a space that feels both sophisticated and comfortable.

Main hall and private rooms: is Bobo Sikdang Apgujeong good for groups?

Bobo Sikdang Apgujeong is split into hall seating and private rooms! The interior overall felt cozy yet very modern and stylish — I thought it was more than fitting for an important meal.

The drink lineup to complement the food is also very rich — Chinese traditional liquors, wine, champagne, Korean traditional liquor, highballs, whiskey, and beer are all available, so it's a great spot to pair drinks with your dishes according to your taste. Warm tea and pickled mustard greens are served as a default starter, and the table setting overall was clean and tidy without any excess! I love trying signature dishes, so I was even more excited for Bobo Sikdang's own creations — the delicious smells wafting from the open kitchen only built the anticipation before the food even arrived!

Mala eggplant fritters, 29,000 won

Bobo Sikdang's mala eggplant fritters (₩29,000) come out as 6 plump pieces, and each one has a weight to it that's on another level! The crispiness of the outer coating was insane — it held up throughout eating, practically ASMR-worthy. The crispy outside and the naturally moist, soft texture of the eggplant inside create a crazy contrast!

Eggplant fritters usually soak up a lot of oil and get greasy fast, right? But at Bobo Sikdang, the addictive flavor of the mala seasoning kept it enjoyable all the way through without ever feeling heavy. The mala heat isn't overpowering, so it's a dish anyone can enjoy without much divide in taste — a total must-try!

Chuck flap steak with pepper stir-fry, 48,000 won, wrapped in a steamed bun

Bobo Sikdang's charcoal-grilled chuck flap steak with pepper stir-fry is ₩48,000. The combination of the tender, charcoal-grilled steak and the savory pepper stir-fry with crunchy bell peppers and vegetables was really excellent!

This charcoal-grilled steak just melts the moment it hits your mouth... isn't that basically cheating? T.T I think this is a must-order dish whether you're taking your parents out or having a gathering!

Wrapping the steak and pepper stir-fry in a steamed bun

It's already heavenly on its own, but the moment you pile on the savory, crunchy pepper stir-fry and wrap it in a soft steamed bun, your eyes truly light up! Eat these two together and you'll lose your mind shoveling it in — it's a spellbinding combo. Not trying this would honestly be a crime. Total must-order dish!

Beef jjamppong, 17,000 won: how spicy is it?

Bobo Sikdang's beef jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) is ₩17,000. Despite its red, fiery-looking appearance, the seasoning isn't overly salty or intense — it has a clean yet deep, rich beef broth flavor that's outstanding!

The gentle spread of beef flavor combined with the sweetness of the vegetables really created a deep taste🤍

On top of that, the noodles soaked up the broth thoroughly while staying wonderfully chewy, making for a very satisfying main dish! It even had a cleanness that cut through the greasiness that Chinese food can sometimes have, so I enjoyed it with admiration all the way to the last bite haha. Total must-order dish!

Even having tried just a portion of the menu, I'm already genuinely looking forward to the rest, so I plan to come back again soon! If you love mala flavors or Chinese food, I think this could easily become your go-to favorite restaurant. With convenient parking and cozy private rooms, it's a place you can enjoy satisfyingly any time — for a special gathering or a date. I highly recommend visiting Bobo Sikdang, a food destination in Apgujeong Rodeo that wins you over with both taste and atmosphere🤍
