A family of four ordered 4 servings of Seokok 2125 Jangin Galbi, added 4 more servings of Seokok Heukjang marinated pork ribs, and finished with a ₩3,000 kimchi stew. When you travel to Busan, half the fun is hunting down good food, right? Our family tried all sorts of things on this trip, and honestly, at a few places we were a little disappointed by the service.

But this time we got both real service and delicious food, and it ended up being the most memorable spot of the whole trip. That was Seokok Galbi (석옥갈비).

After the first visit I thought, this place is really solid — and personally, even though tourists probably come here too, it felt more like a Haeundae restaurant that locals in Busan actually frequent.

First impressions of Seokok Galbi in Haeundae
Above all, the atmosphere was different from the moment we stepped inside.
Back when we went to the Hanam Pig House flagship location, the staff's energetic greetings and proactive service stood out — Seokok Galbi had a similar feel. The moment we walked in, they greeted us brightly and led us straight to a table; the whole staff just had great energy.
When you're traveling, this kind of small kindness completely changes your mood. Our family got to start the meal in a good mood right from the entrance.
Sitting down and looking around, something interesting caught my eye too — stacks of salt sacks piled up whole around the tables. At first I wondered what they were, but it ended up feeling like part of Seokok Galbi's own signature atmosphere.

What is on the menu at Seokok Galbi?
The main menu at Seokok Galbi was simpler than I expected.

It centers on two items — Seokok 2125 Jangin Galbi and Seokok Heukjang Pork Ribs — which actually made choosing easier since the menu wasn't complicated.

We started by ordering 4 servings of Seokok 2125 Jangin Galbi along with the minsaeng kimchi stew.

What does the name Seokok 2125 Jangin Galbi mean?
The name itself made me curious. Apparently the "2125 Jangin Galbi" name has a special meaning — the meat is finished with 2,125 knife cuts.
After hearing that explanation, when the meat arrived I ended up looking at it more carefully. Sure enough, the cuts were packed in so densely that it clearly looked different from ordinary raw pork ribs.
The color of the meat was great too — just looking at it made me want to grill it right away.
Once it hit the hot grill and we tried it, the first bite already felt great. The meat was much softer than expected, and the moment we bit in, the juices spread through the mouth with a rich, savory flavor.

Probably thanks to the knife cuts, it wasn't tough at all, so even the kids ate it really well.
Eating it together with the scallion salad and various side dishes and vegetables gave it a different flavor each time. Our family likes pairing meat with these sides in different combinations, and before we knew it, the 4 servings had disappeared in no time.
Steamed rice, and the sweet corn pot rice we missed
And in our family, we can never skip rice when eating meat. Haha.

We ordered a bowl of rice, and just looking at it, the shine was really good. Tasting it, the rice itself seemed to be quality — it tasted really good too.
Honestly, that day we really wanted to try Seokok Galbi's signature summer hot-pot rice, the sweet corn rice. But with the kids there, taking on one more dish felt like too much, so we ended up not ordering it — and I've been a little sorry about that ever since we got home.

Next time, if I get the chance, I really want to try this hot-pot rice.

Adding 4 servings of Seokok Heukjang pork ribs: how the kids reacted
After thoroughly enjoying the 4 servings of plain ribs, we ended up adding 4 more servings of Seokok Heukjang Pork Ribs.

This time it was the marinated ribs, and these too had dense knife cuts running through the meat. It's said to be ribs aged in a secret "heukjang" sauce, and contrary to what I'd worried, the seasoning wasn't overly strong or sweet, which I liked.
The kids ate the marinated ribs so well.

My husband and I personally liked the first Seokok 2125 Jangin Galbi a bit more, while the kids said the marinated ribs were tastier.

In the end, when we pooled our family opinions, the conclusion was very simple. Both were delicious! Hahaha.
Coming all the way to Busan to eat meat as a family, with the kids eating well and us satisfied too — that was enough for us.

The ₩3,000 kimchi stew, with ramyeon noodles added
And the minsaeng kimchi stew (민생김치찌개) we ordered alongside the meat was really fun too.
From the moment it arrived, its look was a bit different from a regular kimchi stew. It came in a pot along with raw instant noodles, and the fillings — kimchi and minced raw meat — were really generous.

But the price surprised us even more. It was ₩3,000.

These days it's hard to find a side dish at this price when eating out — we double-checked the price. Haha.

Even though we'd already eaten plenty of meat, adding the instant noodles into the kimchi stew still made us reach for more. It felt like they'd put just as much care into the side dishes as into the main menu.

Why Seokok Galbi works for a meal with kids
And honestly, the most memorable part of that day wasn't just the food.

From the moment we walked in, sat down, and through the whole meal as the meat arrived, the staff's greetings and attentiveness kept coming. Even though the restaurant was busy, we felt carefully looked after, which let our family eat comfortably.

When traveling in Busan, good food matters, but finding a place with service and kindness this satisfying makes the memory of the trip even better.

So this visit to Seokok Galbi will stick with our family not simply as a place with good meat, but as a Haeundae restaurant that was satisfying overall — service, kindness, atmosphere, and taste all together.
Especially when traveling with kids, the atmosphere of a restaurant and how kind the staff are really matter. Feeling comfortable on that front made it even better for us.
If we come back to Busan again, our family will probably head to Seokok Galbi once more. And that time, I definitely want to order the sweet corn hot-pot rice we missed out on this time.
If you're looking to eat proper pork ribs with your family in Haeundae, Busan, Seokok Galbi was, for our family, a Haeundae restaurant memorable enough to stay satisfying long after.
