Between work and looking after the kids, my husband and I often end up eating our own meals half-heartedly. So last week, the two of us hopped in the car for an impromptu drive to Masan just to have a proper meal for once. Today I'm introducing a genuinely local spot that even our picky-eater selves have now visited 'twice.'

Yun Sikdang is a Korean set-meal restaurant on Bukseong-ro in Masan that my husband and I have now visited twice. With so many restaurants opening and closing these days, going back to the same place more than once really says something about how solid the taste and quality are, right?

The grilled bulgogi comes fresh off the grill the moment you order, and from the second it arrives, the deep charcoal aroma wafting past your nose stirs up serious appetite.

Pop a nicely grilled piece of bulgogi into your mouth, and what do you get? You're completely blown away by how tender it is — melting away with no tough bits at all.

The special sauce isn't overly sweet or salty and clings perfectly to the meat, soaking all the way through, so a piece of bulgogi laid over hot white rice is the kind of rice thief where you'd fight over the last bite. The crispy, moist grilled mackerel was another rice thief in its own right.

Even my husband, who said he had no appetite, ended up polishing off two bowls of rice, letting out one exclamation after another.
