Gangneung ocean-view café for a weekday sandwich-bread brunch: Baegya

Today I'll introduce Baegya Coffee, which I visited on the last day of my Gangneung trip. I went out toward the East Sea to see the ocean, and an ocean-view café was a must-stop course. Baegya Coffee has apparently been around since 1999 and got a full renewal in 2025. With that much history, I bet it has tons of loyal regulars!

Where is Baegya Coffee in Gangneung?

Baegya Coffee is an ocean-view café right in front of Sageunjin Beach at 607 Haean-ro, Gangneung. Gangneung is especially famous for coffee, and Baegya Coffee is a big café with great Naver reviews, so I figured I had to stop by.

Being so close to Sageunjin Beach, Baegya Coffee gave me that deep-in-the-chest cool feeling. I visited on a nice-weather day and got to see the ocean I'd been wanting to see, as much as I wanted.

I also got a good look at Sageunjin Beach, whose signature is a colorful breakwater. Baegya Coffee was great for its wide-open sea view too. Isn't the photo with the blue sky and sea just pretty?

I visited on a weekday morning, so I had no trouble getting the seat I wanted at Baegya Coffee.

Parking and signature menu prices at Baegya Coffee

Baegya Coffee has a large parking lot that's easy to use, and it's near a bus stop too, so it's accessible for those without a car. The signature menu items are the corn ice cream (옥시기 아이스크림) at ₩6,500, corn cream shot latte at ₩6,800, and butterscotch shot latte at ₩6,800. The coffee prices were similar to Seoul, so I could order without feeling burdened.

What are the three floors of Baegya Coffee like?

I only found out after my visit that Baegya Coffee has opened a new branch at Gangneung Station too! This location, spanning up to three floors, was very spacious and clean, and each floor was decorated with a slightly different vibe, which I liked. They also state on Instagram that they follow a same-day-made, same-day-sold principle, so I could eat with confidence.

Those with mobility difficulties can use the elevator, which was convenient. I heard there's a rooftop too, but I only made it up to the third floor. Inside the elevator there's even a small shelf for setting down bread plates, so I could move around hands-free.

Weekday-morning bread selection and what I ordered

Baegya Coffee's real strength is definitely its wide bakery selection. Bread lovers would genuinely love this place! I visited a bit after breakfast hours, and I liked that there was still a wide variety of bread to choose from, plus I liked even more that it was managed hygienically with easy-to-open-and-close covers.

To make a meal of it, I ordered sandwich bread, and also tried the salt bread (소금빵) I'd been wanting for a while. Nutty bread pairs best with an Americano I think, so I ordered an iced Americano for my drink. Apparently the bread ingredients include AOP gourmet butter and organic fruit, all made in-house.

Even going alone, eating while enjoying the ocean view felt healing. It felt like a leisurely brunch, which I really liked. The staff were kind too, and the interior was kept clean.

Can you pack leftover bread to go? Yes, self-service on floor 1

After finishing the bread and drinks, I headed to the return counter on the first floor — and I liked that you can self-pack any leftover bread. I'd greedily ordered too much, so I packed the leftovers into a paper bag to take home.
