Kona and Blue Mountain tasting at Namyangju café Waltz & Dr. Mahn

I went on a drive to Namyangju and stopped by Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a Bukhan River café where you can drink coffee right by the water. Instead of the big flashy new-style cafés you see these days, it has the calm feel of an old European restaurant, and it stocks so many coffees that it runs a coffee museum alongside it. I'd actually saved this place a while back after seeing a neighboring blogger's post and wanting to visit!

Where is Waltz and Dr. Mahn? Hours and parking in Namyangju

Waltz and Dr. Mahn is at 856-37 Bukhangang-ro, Josan-myeon, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00 with last order at 20:00, and never closes for the year. Reservations are also possible.

There's a separate free parking lot right in front, so it's a great stop for a Namyangju drive~ It's pretty tough to get to by public transport though, haha.

Classical music plays inside Waltz and Dr. Mahn, and the Bukhan River is right there through the windows! The elegant interior, the river view, and the quiet music genuinely refreshed my mood.

How ordering works at the table, and what the coffee costs

Waltz and Dr. Mahn isn't the usual café setup where you order at the counter and get a buzzer. Once you sit down, a staff member brings you the menu and takes your order right at the table — it feels more like a restaurant than a café?

The coffee prices are on the higher side compared to a regular café, but the service style and the space itself are clearly different from an ordinary café! With so many coffees to choose from, we ended up picking Hawaiian Kona and Blue Mountain, one of each.

Jamaican Blue Mountain, 20,000 won, served hot

Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, ₩20,000. The other cup was also Blue Mountain coffee, ₩20,000. On the current menu it's introduced as a single origin known for its balance of flavor and aroma.

Blue Mountain, HOT. It was a bit warm out so I was going to order it iced, but the staff recommended the hot version (since the aroma disappears otherwise), so I held back and went with hot..

This coffee is grown in the Blue Mountain region of Jamaica, and apparently the growing area itself is so strictly defined that not just any Jamaican bean can carry the Blue Mountain name.

Getting to enjoy such delicious coffee with such a pretty view..

Hawaiian Kona over ice, with a printed coffee guide

I ordered the Hawaiian Kona iced. Hawaiian Kona is known for a gentle fruit-like sweetness, a crisp acidity, and a balance where the bitterness doesn't dominate!

They also gave us a guide sheet explaining the coffee we ordered, which let us appreciate it even more! Drinking it while knowing about it really made it feel more enjoyable??,,

In terms of flavor, there's a subtle sweetness like caramel or honey, a nutty, milk-chocolate-like warmth, and on top of that a light, fruit-like acidity.

The Kona had a bit more acidity! A different kind of charm~.~

Why Waltz and Dr. Mahn is worth a Namyangju drive

What I loved about Waltz and Dr. Mahn was getting to directly compare beans like Hawaiian Kona and Blue Mountain that you don't usually get to try, and it was even more memorable enjoying coffee leisurely while looking out at the Bukhan River.

Rather than just a café with a nice view, it's a good place to visit on a day when you want to slowly savor the coffee itself, so I'd recommend it as a Namyangju drive course too!
