Jeju seafood restaurant takeaway for hotel dining: Dutumhoe
In short
Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch is a seafood takeaway restaurant in Dongmun Market, Jeju. I packed the Dutum Signature, assorted sushi, and coconut shrimp fritters for 60,000 won, with cutlassfish and bigfin reef squid sashimi standing out. When you come to Jeju, isn’t sashimi takeaway basically mandatory? This time, I headed to Dongmun Market for Jeju sashimi takeaway so I could eat comfortably at the hotel. I looked around the market too, and the place I picked was Dutumhoe in Jeju. They had everything from sashimi and sushi to fried shrimp, so I spent ages deciding what to get 🤣
Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch: location and access

Location: 16 Gwandek-ro 14-gil, Jeju-si. Find Gate 8 of Dongmun Market and it is right inside the night market. The shop is large, so it is easy to spot 🩵 It is also close to Jeju Airport, making it a decent stop at the beginning or end of a Jeju trip. Especially if you want to eat sashimi comfortably at your accommodation, it is an easy route to swing by the market and take some away.
Hours: daily 11:30–21:00 They say they may close earlier if ingredients sell out. If you are planning sashimi takeaway, I recommend visiting with a little time to spare rather than too late. Parking: use the outdoor public parking lot.
Since it is inside Jeju Dongmun Market, it had that lively market atmosphere. It is fairly near the entrance too, so I liked that it was not insanely crowded.

More than anything, seeing the fresh seafood swimming in the tank right beside the shop made it look even more delicious somehow... haha

There were so many kinds of sashimi, plus sushi and futomaki (thick sushi rolls), that I took quite a while to choose. The owner was kind and explained the seafood beside me, which made the decision much easier~

Takeaway dishes I chose for the hotel
For this takeaway, I got the Dutum Signature for ₩40,000, assorted sushi for ₩10,000, and coconut shrimp fritters for ₩10,000. The total came to ₩60,000. I was going to get just sashimi, but the sushi caught my eye, and then there was coconut shrimp—one of my favorites—so I ended up adding this and that 😂
How am I supposed to resist freshly fried coconut shrimp?
Takeaway complete~~ Packaging is secretly such an important part of sashimi takeaway, right? It is stressful when you are carrying sashimi around in summer, but they packed ice packs and an insulated bag sturdy enough for several hours, haha. The insulated bag was kind of cute too, so it was fine to carry around.

Coconut shrimp fritters, 8 pieces
Coconut shrimp fritters: ₩10,000 for 8 pieces. I grabbed one as soon as I got in the car, haha. It was so crispy and nutty-delicious. Maybe because it was fried in coconut batter, it had a richer flavor than regular fried shrimp!!!! It was even better dipped in chili sauce.

Shall we start the food marathon? The sauce selection was generous too. They packed seaweed, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), aged kimchi, sweet pickled ginger, salmon sauce, chojang (sweet-and-tangy chili sauce), soy sauce, and wasabi—every single thing. At this point, I could have just taken it straight on a picnic, couldn’t I?
Enjoying it while watching I Am Solo~~~ My forever meal companion is the dopamine-packed I Am Solo.

Dutum Signature cutlassfish and bigfin reef squid sashimi
Dutum Signature: ₩40,000. It includes seasonal wild fish, fresh cutlassfish, bigfin reef squid, red sea bream, flounder, and salmon. With several kinds on one platter, it felt like a great option for anyone wanting to try a variety of sashimi. And when I opened the takeaway box, every slice was so thick!!!! Dutumhoe really does mean thick sashimi, haha.

It was my first time having cutlassfish sashimi, so I was a little curious, but its pleasantly chewy texture was more appealing than I expected. It was freshness itself, with not even a hint of fishiness. It was fun because the texture was so different from familiar salmon or flounder. But the real star was the bigfin reef squid sashimi... It was chewy yet bouncy, and so much tastier than I expected that I kept regretting it as I ate. Ah, I should have bought another whole plate of bigfin reef squid........😂 I had no idea bigfin reef squid sashimi could be this good.

Assorted sushi packed along with it
Assorted sushi: ₩10,000. I packed sushi too, and the sashimi on top was thicker than expected. This quality for only ₩10,000! Since one tray has several varieties, it is a nice simple addition for sashimi lovers. Having sushi made me think of futomaki again, haha. Oh—and a warning: I inhaled the sushi so fast that there are no photos..
My honest review of sashimi takeaway at Jeju Dongmun Market

You know those times when you are in Jeju and want sashimi, but would rather eat comfortably at your accommodation than deal with a busy restaurant? That was exactly my kind of day, so I chose sashimi takeaway at Jeju Dongmun Market. Browse around the market, pick the sashimi you want, pack it up, then eat it comfortably at the hotel—that was the plan.
The quality was better than expected, so I was very satisfied! In particular, the Dutum Signature was great because it included several kinds of fresh sashimi, letting me try a variety from one platter. The cutlassfish and bigfin reef squid sashimi, which are not easy to come across, were the real kick. Even now, I still think I should have bought another plate of Dutumhoe’s bigfin reef squid sashimi, hahahahaha. I am planning to get my next Jeju sashimi takeaway from Dutumhoe too.
