Jeju indoor media art with café drinks: Nohyeong Supermarket

After arriving at Jeju Airport, the sun was absolutely blazing, so I looked for nearby indoor places to visit and ended up here. It was Nohyeong Supermarket (노형수퍼마켙), and for us adults, the space styled like the supermarkets we often visited as kids was such a nostalgic treat!

But as if every color had been sucked away, the whole place is black and white! That makes it feel even more like the old days, haha. Once you pass through the Nohyeong Supermarket space, digital art unfolds as though you've entered a cyber world, with all sorts of concepts including famous paintings, an aquarium, cyberspace, and dinosaurs. It is well worth seeing for everyone, from children to adults, so if you are looking for things to do in Jeju Island, do take a look around Nohyeong Supermarket!

89 Nohyeong-ro, 1F, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Jeju Airport is just 17 minutes from Nohyeong Supermarket, and the parking lot is spacious, so no parking worries! (*Wheelchairs and strollers are restricted.)

With a Naver Reservation, adult admission alone was discounted to ₩14,000, while admission plus a drink (including the media art) was ₩15,000. Since the difference was only ₩1,000, I went with the drink-included option. You also earn points when paying through Naver Reservation, so that is a nice bonus, haha. Youth and child tickets cost the same! (Youth: ages 14–19; children: 36 months–13 years; free admission for ages 36 months and under / valid through December 31, 2026.)

Ticket office, café, and gift shop

When you enter Nohyeong Supermarket, the ticket office is on the right, alongside Nohyeong Dabang (the café) and a gift shop. We got our tickets first, then ordered drinks at the café right away because you can take them into the media-art space.

With the admission-and-drink ticket, you could choose one Americano, tangerine juice, Jeju shindari, strawberry jumulleok, or chalgaebori-tteok.

You can sit at a table and enjoy your drink after ordering, but since we could take it inside, we headed straight in!

Right next to Nohyeong Dabang (the café), there is Nohyeong General Store, which was really fun to browse too 😄

Through the black-and-white rooms to the media-art theater

This is the entrance. Nohyeong Supermarket is a colorless space where everything is black and white.

After passing through this all-black-and-white space, that door opens, and a staff member waiting there opens it for you. Then you step into a world filled with every kind of color. This is the entrance to the media-art theater.

It feels like you have stepped into a scene from Avatar. Take a souvenir photo here too~ Then go down the stairs and the art space finally appears! Since you do have to go downstairs, though, I thought it would be difficult with a wheelchair or stroller.

Warang Warang: seven media-theme shows

Finally, the media-art space I had been looking forward to~ Moving from the black-and-white world into this dazzlingly colorful media-art space made it feel even more impressive. This space is called Warang Warang (와랑와랑), and it is said to showcase wonderful media art at Korea's largest height of 20 m.

In this expansive space, roomy seating is arranged across the levels, and because they manage the number of people entering and leaving, there was no trouble at all finding a place to sit and watch! The seats have soft cushions too, so I sipped coffee, chatted with my family, and enjoyed the show.

There were so many themes, including famous paintings, the underwater world, dinosaurs, and Cyber City, that I watched for quite a while. With images all around you, it felt incredibly vivid, and even I, an adult, watched it with real excitement. What an amazing world, haha.

After watching for a while, the program had gone all the way around, so it was time to leave. There is a path to Gopeullak on basement level 1, so I had a look around there too. There is a photo spot here as well, making it great for pictures.

It is close to Jeju Airport and is an indoor space that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy. I especially liked that you can stop by without worrying when it rains or outdoor activities are difficult. If you are traveling to Jeju, I recommend Nohyeong Supermarket as a place to visit in Jeju City!
