Solo dining cave seat and Jocha Set 500g at Jeju Samchun, Hamdeok
In short
Jeju Samchun is a Jeju black pork restaurant on Sinbuk-ro in Jocheon, near Hamdeok Beach. Dining solo, the writer ordered the Jocha Set 500g and was seated in a cave-like nook while staff grilled the pork neck and pork belly from start to finish and served side dishes as if for two. It's a setup that works equally well for solo diners and families with kids.

First night of the Jeju trip, so of course it's black pork time! There's a Hamdeok black pork spot just a 3-minute walk from the accommodation — how could I not go?!

Location, parking, and reservations?
It's in a clean, newly built building. You can park nearby, or apparently use the public parking lot (?) near the Olive Young across the street.
It seems to be pretty popular, so making a reservation before visiting is a good idea. Naver Reservation is available.
Solo diners get seated in a cave-like nook
I was first shown to a table over there, but since I was dining alone, I got moved to a different seat.
I was led to a very cave-like spot. I'll choose to believe they moved me because they thought I'd feel awkward eating meat alone haha.
Maybe because it's near Sonobel Jeju, there were a lot of families visiting, and there seemed to be plenty of high chairs ready for kids.
If you're looking for a black pork restaurant to make the ending of your beautiful trip to the blue sea and emerald scenery of Hamdeok Beach even more special, please visit our Jeju Samchun. We are a certified Jeju pork retailer authorized by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Our certified high-quality black pork is wet-aged for 300 hours at low temperature, then smoked using grapevine smoking chips — a method that delivers tender, deeply flavorful meat. We place the highest priority on the authentic taste of Jeju black pork. From the thick cuts to the rich juiciness, chewy texture, and savory flavor, we carefully select only the best raw meat so every single piece satisfies. Grilling is the most important part of enjoying good meat. Our staff grill it carefully for you so you can focus entirely on your meal, paying close attention so you can eat it at its most delicious moment. Even first-time visitors can enjoy the best black pork without any worry.

What's good to order when eating alone?
The lunch special looked good for eating solo, but in the evening the Jocha Set was really the only sensible option for one person. You can only order in single-portion units if you want to add more.

This Hamdeok black pork spot is generous too — they say if you write a Naver photo review, they give you a kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew).

Side dishes served like a table for two, even solo
The side dishes came out neatly —
and you could even get a refill of the salted pollock roe —
then two more side dishes arrived a bit later. The seasoned cucumbers were delicious too, but sorry, I left some behind —

I came alone, but they set the table as if for two people, so there were a lot of side dishes.
Tada! My precious trip, my precious time!
Showtime!

What's in the Jocha Set 500g
📍Jocha Set 500g

A kid at the table next to me really wanted this little dol hareubang (stone grandfather statue) — apparently it's just part of the plating, haha.

With both pork neck and pork belly, this really felt like the perfect menu for two people to share.

Staff-grilled to perfection
The grill pan comes in, and —
the staff member grills the meat skillfully. I think that's what makes Jeju Samchun's Hamdeok black pork such a great option even with kids in tow — you can eat comfortably.

This part got grilled last — it was delicious, but I have no idea what cut it was. Probably something near the neck.
First up went the pretty thick pork neck,
and then the pork belly went on too.
Genuinely impressive — the staff member was handling three tables at once but still swooped in at exactly the right moment to sort the meat.
Now heading toward the grand finale of grilling.

It's done —

and the last remaining bits went on at the end.

Looks delicious.

How the pork belly and pork neck actually taste
Grilled just right, not overdone — moist and delicious pork belly.

The pork neck was tasty too, not dry at all.

This one was the tastiest of all.

Even after everything was grilled, the staff member came back to the table to tidy up the meat so it wouldn't overcook.
See that! Perfect grilling!

It wasn't that long ago that a geun (traditional weight unit) plus a bowl of rice would leave me stuffed — now this is about my limit. It was delicious, though a little bittersweet…

To sum up
I've been to pretty much every well-known black pork restaurant around Hamdeok, and Jeju Samchun's Hamdeok Beach black pork stands out — easy Naver reservations, safe enough to bring babies, and the staff grilling the meat for you make it a solid option for families traveling with kids.
