Black pork belly for two and an aging room in Jungmun: Oreumak Garden
In short
Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch is a 40-year-old dry-aged black pork restaurant in Jungmun, Seogwipo, on Jeju Island. Arriving close to closing time, the writer ordered two servings of black pork belly, looked around the dry-aging room and its wet-aging display inside the restaurant, and ate the butter-grilled shrimp, clam soup and steamed egg that come as sides before finishing with bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). With a wide private lot and a large dining room, Oreumak Garden is an easy black pork spot to reach by car.

Jeju's first dry-aged black pork restaurant, 40 years on
I was looking for a place to eat black pork in Jungmun, Seogwipo, Jeju, and ended up at Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch! This place is apparently Jeju's very first dry-aged black pork specialist, running for a whopping 40 years, so I was curious. Since it's been open in Jeju for so long, it's the kind of place anyone who loves black pork has probably heard of at least once.

What also caught my eye: it's been consistently selected for the Blue Ribbon Survey every year since 2014, and Coca-Cola has featured it since 2024 too — a place that's been recognized steadily for a long time.

Parking and what the dining room is like
Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch has a large dedicated parking lot right next to the restaurant, so parking was easy. When you're restaurant-hopping around Jeju, you sometimes run into spots with awkward parking, but here there was no stress about coming by car.

The interior was pretty spacious too. Even though we visited close to closing time, customers kept coming in. Seeing that, I could kind of understand why it's so often mentioned as a local favorite in Seogwipo.

What's on the menu at Oreumak Garden?
The menu includes dry-aged black pork belly along with white pork raw ribs, marinated ribs, and pork belly, plus items like naengmyeon and jjigae. There's also a set menu that lets you try black pork bone ribeye, neck, and jowl all at once, good for when you want to taste a variety of cuts.
Apparently the meal menus like galbitang and gomtang are also pretty famous! It's a good spot to visit not just for grilled meat but for a proper meal too.

The dry-aging room you can see inside the restaurant
On one side, you could actually see meat that was currently dry-aging. There were also explanations posted about dry-aging versus wet-aging, which I read while looking around — knowing how the meat is aged before eating it made it more interesting than just eating it plain.
Side dishes that come with the black pork
Side dishes

The side dishes were also laid out neatly. I especially liked the freshly tossed shredded scallion and radish salad — eaten with the meat, their crunchy, tangy flavor really complemented it.

A slightly spicy clam soup and soft steamed egg also came as side dishes, and there were plenty of other basic sides too, which was nice.

But that wasn't the end — they even brought out butter-grilled shrimp sized to the number of people at the table...!! Popping one shrimp each before eating the meat was a nice little treat too. The basic spread alone was more generous than I expected, so I was happy!
How was the black pork belly for two?
Black pork belly for two

We ordered two servings of black pork belly at Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch. Scored black pork belly came out with onions and mushrooms, and the meat was thick enough to look appetizing just sitting there.

They grilled the meat for us on a sizzling hot griddle, and the sound of it cooking away was really satisfying.
I tried the first bite of well-cooked black pork dipped in salt. Tasting the meat's own flavor first, then wrapping it in lettuce with shredded scallion on top, was also delicious. The mushrooms grilled alongside had a chewy texture that went well with the meat too. Maybe because it was dry-aged black pork, the flavor of the meat felt deep and rich.

So if you're looking for a place to eat black pork around Jungmun, I think it's worth seeking out an old-school restaurant like this as a local Seogwipo favorite. With 40 years of tradition especially, it seems like a great fit for anyone who wants to eat black pork with a real Jeju feel.

Finishing with bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles)
Of course, we finished with bibim naengmyeon! After the grilled meat, the tangy-spicy cold noodles felt like they cleared the palate completely, so it was delicious right to the end.
If you're looking for a place to eat black pork in Jungmun or hunting for a Seogwipo local favorite, consider checking out Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch. Easy parking, a spacious dining room, and the unique experience of tasting dry-aged black pork made for a meal that felt a little different :)
