Byeollnae-dong clam restaurant with a cheese hot pot: Wonhadeon Bada

Today I went to eat clam hot pot, a dish you just can't skip in fall, at Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae Main Branch!

What is Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada, the Byeollnae-dong clam hot pot restaurant?

Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae Main Branch is a well-known Byeollnae-dong restaurant famous for grilled clams and steamed clam hot pot, and it's a proper seafood specialty place with all kinds of shellfish!

And it even has outdoor tables, so it's got the atmosphere covered too — a Byeollnae-dong restaurant that nails the vibe!!!

If you're not into outdoor seating, don't worry, there's indoor seating too! Both indoor and outdoor feel like you've stepped onto the West Sea coast — a restaurant that delivers on mood as much as on taste!

What two people ordered: the small clam hot pot with broth

Since Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae is famous for both grilled clams and steamed clam hot pot, the two of us went back and forth and ended up ordering the small (소) clam hot pot with broth :) (It's shrimp season right now too, so if you love shrimp, they've got grilled mountain shrimp on the menu as well!!)

After we ordered, and before the clam hot pot arrived, they brought out basic side dishes — corn salad, green peas, cheese tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cake) — and I heard that if you order grilled clams, you even get a broth dish on top of that!! Oh... this Byeollnae-dong restaurant, Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada!! Order the grilled clams or clam hot pot and the side dishes alone are amazing...!! If you want broth too, I'd highly recommend the grilled clams!

This much in the small size? Octopus on top of the clam hot pot

After ordering, since the clam hot pot needs some time to cook, we were eating the tteokbokki while we waited... yes, we were just sitting there... when!!?? Okay, don't be shocked!? 3, 2, 1

A massive tray appeared from far away!!!!

Whoa, there's no way I'm not taking a photo of this!!! Wait, why is the portion this huge!? I came here because it's supposedly a famous Byeollnae-dong restaurant for grilled clams and clam hot pot, but this is supposedly the small size!!

And get this — this is clam hot pot, but there was even octopus in it..? The owner kindly cut the octopus with scissors and told us to try it first since it was already cooked — gah, it was so tender and delicious!!

There was also fresh abalone, and so you don't get tired of eating clams, there were dumplings and fish cake piled in too! Underneath, vegetables like napa cabbage were cooked down until they melted in your mouth!!! And cheese came included as a default topping!! Ugh... I was actually supposed to be off alcohol starting this week...

This, this right here from Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada..! It's calling for soju, calling for it!!

Yep, so thanks to Wonhadeon Bada, my sobriety streak in Byeollnae-dong broke that day... haha.

How do the scallops, abalone and comb pen shell scallops taste?

As a cheese lover, I dipped clams deep into the cheese and took another bite... but this is the small size, the smallest one they have.. and the portion was seriously massive?! There were two of us eating and I really thought I'd burst!!! Ah, but even when you're full, as a Korean you've got to have dessert too, right? So at the end, we even added a serving of knife-cut noodles.. can't give up even when full, add it, add it!!!

Gah~ cool clam broth with fresh knife-cut noodles, and topped with kimchi to eat together, pure heaven!!! Honestly now that it's fall, I'd been craving clams so, so much lately, and today at Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae Main Branch I got to satisfy every bit of that craving!

They said it's a Byeollnae-dong restaurant, but this place shouldn't stop at being a Byeollnae-dong restaurant.. let's call it a Namyangju restaurant, no, a Gyeonggi-do restaurant! lol

Final verdict, hours and how to reach Wonhadeon Bada from Byeollnae Byeolgaram Station

So today I visited Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae Main Branch, the Byeollnae-dong restaurant famous for grilled clams and clam hot pot! The clams were genuinely fresh and the atmosphere was top notch — a real gem of a restaurant. And on top of that, the price was cheap considering the portion!!! Plus they mentioned running a Danggeun (neighborhood app) event offering cash discounts or extra giant clams and scallops, so between price, atmosphere and quality, this place truly has it all covered — I left very satisfied and completely stuffed.

There's also a stream right in front of Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada with a walking path, so it looked like a great spot for a date or to visit with friends or family for a meal followed by a stroll :) My rating for Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae Main Branch today is a well-earned ★★★★★ out of five!! It was satisfying enough that I'd want to bring friends back for another visit. If you're looking for a real Byeollnae-dong restaurant for grilled clams or clam hot pot that's genuinely fresh, delicious, and full of atmosphere, give Sujakgye Wonhadeon Bada a try.
