Namyangju group dining restaurant, seaweed scallop risotto: Romaok

Our kids are already eight years old. It feels like just yesterday we met at the postpartum care center and talked about nothing but our newborns, and now the kids are in elementary school — and we've moved on to talking about our own lives too.

Today we visited a place chosen by Teunteuni's mom, one of my postpartum care center friends, for her housewarming brunch. It was Romaok Riverside in Suseok-dong, Namyangju. Close to the Han River with a great atmosphere and perfect for a group to share several dishes, it was the ideal spot for our long-overdue reunion. Everything we ordered turned out delicious, and everyone agreed she picked a great Namyangju brunch spot.

Where is Romaok Riverside, and is there parking?

Romaok Riverside sits near the Han River in Suseok-dong, Namyangju. If you search "Romaok Riverside" on navigation apps, it'll direct you to the Namyangju Han River Park parking lot — the restaurant is right beside it, to the right.

It's also easy to reach from the Suseok IC and Topyeong IC, which makes it convenient when looking for a meeting spot in Namyangju.

Being so close to the Han River also makes it great for a walk after your meal. A route like Namyangju drive → brunch at Romaok → Han River walk sounds like a satisfying day out.

Five dishes shared by five friends

Since we came with my postpartum center friends, we ordered a good variety of dishes.

They also have a drinks menu and various promotions running, worth checking out. We ended up ordering five dishes total. First came the pre-meal bread and salad — five slices for five people, dipped in oil.

Pine nut caprese salad

A salad of cherry tomatoes and black tomatoes with arugula, pine nut fromage blanc, and white balsamic. Refreshing yet nutty, and it paired well with the main dishes.

Abalone gonad pasta

Pasta made with kelp-steamed abalone, garlic scapes, chorizo, and abalone gonad sauce. The abalone's flavor really came through — this was the most memorable dish of the day.

Scallop and maesaengi (fine seaweed) risotto

Risotto combining scallops, shrimp, maesaengi (fine seaweed), and perilla oil. I was curious what it would taste like going in, but the nutty aroma of maesaengi and perilla oil worked better than expected.

Gorgonzola pizza

Topped with gorgonzola cheese, ricotta mousse, cranberries, and honey — sweet and savory at once.

A great dish to pair alongside the pastas.

Naples-style seafood pomodoro pasta

A tomato pasta loaded with shrimp, cuttlefish, and shellfish. Generously packed with seafood, it was a solid, crowd-pleasing choice.

Visiting with a group here is fun precisely because you can order a variety of dishes and share them all.

Dining room, annex and the Han River view café

And then there's the café. Romaok Riverside runs a café space alongside the dining area.

Last time I visited with friends, we moved to the café after eating and kept chatting over coffee, but this time we had to head straight to Teunteuni's housewarming, so we didn't get to use it.

The Han River view from the café is especially pretty. The scenery through the windows makes it a lovely place to unwind with a coffee after a meal.

So Romaok Riverside isn't just a place to eat — it's a spot where you can move from meal → café → Han River view and keep the good time going. Next time I definitely want to take my time and enjoy the café too, haha.

How Romaok Riverside works for a group get-together

The bond between postpartum care center friends is really something. We first met right after our kids were born, and now they're all eight years old. We're all busy with our own lives so we don't meet often, but when we do, it feels like we saw each other just yesterday.

This time we gathered for brunch ahead of Teunteuni's mom's housewarming, and we went back and forth on where to go. In the end, Romaok Riverside, a well-known spot in Suseok-dong, Namyangju, didn't disappoint. The food was great and the space was comfortable — perfect for our long-awaited reunion. We even noticed several other group gatherings besides ours.

Ordering a variety — pasta, risotto, pizza — and sharing it all made the meal feel even more plentiful. Most of all, laughing and talking over good food made the time fly by.

Our kids are already eight. Time really does move fast, but it's a blessing to keep growing together and staying in touch like this. Next time, I want to take it slow and enjoy the café and the river view too. The food is great and the vibe is even better!!
