Insadong gomtang restaurant, cold jeyuk two dipping sauces: Wolhadong
In short
Wolhadong is a clear pork gomtang (bone broth soup) restaurant in a hanok on Insadong 8-gil in Jongno, Seoul. Seated at the kitchen-view bar, I had a solo meal of Wolha gomtang for 12,000 won, a half plate of cold jeyuk (chilled boiled pork) for 10,000 won and rice for 1,000 won, tasting the cold jeyuk with soy sauce and with doenjang (soybean paste). Wolhadong is a five-minute walk from Anguk Station Exit 5 and an easy place to eat one proper meal alone.

Getting to Wolhadong from Anguk Station

I visited Wolhadong, a place well known as an Insadong gomtang (pork bone broth soup) spot 😊. It's also known as a gomtang restaurant near Anguk Station, and the deep meaty aroma and tender pork are its standout points. It's within a 5-minute walk from Anguk Station Exit 5 on Line 3, so public transit access is really convenient.

This Insadong gomtang spot is housed in a hanok (traditional Korean house), so you get a real sense of Korean atmosphere while eating. I liked that there was a waiting area set up in front of the restaurant 😄

The interior of this well-known Insadong gomtang restaurant has a wood-toned design that feels calm and settled. Most of the seating is 2-top and 4-top tables, but there are also bar seats set up for solo diners, making it a great pork gomtang spot whether you're eating alone, with a partner, friends, or family 👍

I visited this gomtang restaurant near Anguk Station specifically to eat solo. The staff seated me at the bar seats, and it was neat to see the kitchen at work right there in front of me.

True to its identity as a traditional Korean restaurant, this Insadong gomtang restaurant displays ceramics that were genuinely beautiful to look at. I'd definitely recommend it as an Insadong lunch spot 😉

How the gomtang and cold jeyuk tasted

- Wolha gomtang / ₩12,000
- Cold jeyuk half plate / ₩10,000
- Rice / ₩1,000
At this Insadong gomtang restaurant, I ordered the signature Wolha gomtang, a half plate of cold jeyuk, and a bowl of rice. I came to eat alone, but the table ended up filled with a full spread — it looked so good I couldn't wait to dig in ✌️

True to its reputation, the clear-broth pork gomtang was deep and savory yet looked delicious, and it came generously packed with rice and meat. Cold jeyuk is served cold, unlike the suyuk (boiled pork) I was familiar with, so I was curious about the taste and ordered it — it came with kimchi as a side plus the extra bowl of rice I'd ordered 🍚
Do you see that clear-broth pork gomtang from this Insadong gomtang restaurant? Served with tender suyuk in this clear broth, it made my mouth water 😌

True to its reputation as an Insadong gomtang spot, I ate it by dipping rice, suyuk, and broth together on a spoon, and also had it with diced radish kimchi and regular kimchi. The suyuk was full of juices, the rice grains had a nice chewy bite, and the deep broth was so tasty I kept slurping it up 😋

I dipped the cold jeyuk I'd also ordered into the soy-based sauce, and also tried it topped with doenjang — both brought out great savory depth and left me satisfyingly full. I'd recommend visiting Wolhadong, the well-known gomtang restaurant near Anguk Station, for a proper Insadong lunch 🙌
