Sokcho egg tart bakery: how long tarts keep, Doris Patisserie
In short
Doris Patisserie is a Portuguese-style egg tart bakery near Sokcho Central Market, at 26 Jungang-ro 147beon-gil in Sokcho, Gangwon. A text message sent the day before reserved one box of original and one box of cream cheese-walnut egg tarts for the 12:00 pickup slot, and the cream cheese tart tasted sweetly cheesy while the original led with rich egg flavor. Doris Patisserie's storage guide — same day at room temperature, 2 days refrigerated, 2 weeks frozen — plus a 180°C air fryer reheat for 2 to 3 minutes keeps the tarts crisp long after the trip home.

Before heading to Sokcho's Central Market, I was scouting out good bread or dessert spots and discovered the egg tarts at Doris Patisserie! Doris Patisserie bakes fresh egg tarts every day.

Doris Patisserie was already famous as a line-up egg tart spot. Since showing up late can mean missing out on walk-in purchases, I made a reservation beforehand. The bakery runs 3-4 baking rounds a day (one hour per round), so it's worth knowing the reservation process before you visit. So in this post I'll walk through how to reserve at Doris Patisserie, along with my pickup and tasting review!
How do you reserve egg tarts at Doris Patisserie, and when?
Reservations for Doris Patisserie open by text message starting at 6am the day before pickup (please avoid messaging after 8pm). Reservations are confirmed in the order received, and they reply within about 2 hours on average. (There's no separate notice for when reservations close.)
Pickup is available every day, Monday through Sunday. Pickup times are also set in advance —
- 10:00 – 10:20
- 12:00 – 12:20
- 15:00 – 15:20
You just note which time slot — 10am, 12pm, or 3pm — you'd like to pick up. Walk-in sales are possible after the reserved pickup times, but they close once sold out, and depending on the day's reservation load, walk-in sales can be delayed or unavailable entirely, so I'd definitely recommend reserving ahead. Send your reservation inquiry by text to the store's listed number!

Send a text like that, and you'll get a reply like this within 2 hours.
The 12:00 pickup slot: separate lines for reservations and walk-ins
After reserving, I visited Doris Patisserie the next day. For my 12pm pickup, I arrived around 11:45, and reservation customers had already started lining up 10 minutes before. The reservation pickup line and the walk-in waiting line are in separate designated spots, so pay attention to where you stand.

Doris Patisserie's signature dessert is the Portuguese egg tart! Even while waiting outside, that sweet, nutty dessert smell drifted out from the store. Only 6 people are let in at a time, and I went in right as it hit 12pm.

They also sell coffee and drinks to go with the desserts.

Once they confirm your reservation, they package everything up. The owner handles everything solo, but the pickup was still quick!

Just look at this visual... such a gorgeous egg tart form!

How long Doris Patisserie egg tarts keep, and how to reheat them

Doris Patisserie recommends eating egg tarts the same day at room temperature, within 2 days if refrigerated, or within 2 weeks if frozen. Like any dessert, egg tarts taste best crisp on the day you buy them! But they also say you can eat them cold after refrigerating, or partly thaw a frozen one and eat it like ice cream — apparently that frozen half-thawed version is really good, haha.
If you freeze the tarts, baking them at 180°C for 2-3 minutes in an air fryer or oven brings back that crispy texture. Skip the microwave — it makes the pastry shell go soggy! If you're not eating them right away, keep them refrigerated, and if storing long-term, always seal tightly before freezing.
How do the original, cream cheese, and walnut egg tarts taste?
I took out one original and one cheese egg tart to try.

First up, the cream cheese egg tart! Compared to the original, it had a sweeter, more distinct cheese aroma.

The original egg tart had great nutty egg flavor and depth!
The inside was almost pudding-like and soft, melting into an even sweeter finish.

Back home, I ran the walnut egg tart through the air fryer, and the walnuts had a satisfying crunch that paired really well with the tart's nutty flavor. Eating these delicious desserts made my memories of traveling in Sokcho even sweeter.
Is Doris Patisserie worth a stop in Sokcho?
The packaging box is pretty, and every egg tart flavor was delicious, so I'd highly recommend it for eating with kids or as a gift. Just remember — texting to reserve the day before pickup is a must!
