Where is Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch, and how long is the walk from Seomyeon Station Exit 8?

Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch is on the first floor of 42-1 Seojeon-ro, Busanjin-gu, right on the main road at the Jeonpo intersection. From Seomyeon Station Exit 8, walk straight ahead and it's right before you turn into Jeonpo!

My friend and I wandered around debating what to eat, and ended up at Hyangtaek! There are honestly so many restaurants near Seomyeon Station Exit 8 that I go there often, so when I noticed a new place had opened up, I got super curious haha.

We came from the Seomyeon side, but if you get off at Jeonpo Station, it's at the point where you go straight from Exit 7 and then turn toward Seomyeon. Parking is at the building's private lot, and note that the parking fee is on you!

Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch is a hanok-style Korean restaurant mostly set up with tables for four, spaced generously apart. The menu isn't heavy on meat dishes — it leans toward classic Korean fare like Spanish mackerel gondeure (thistle) rice and eggplant doenjang (soybean paste) rice bowl.

I loved how much space there was between tables, and since they're all four-seaters, you get plenty of room to sit and eat comfortably. It's great with any company — I'd recommend it for family, friends, dates, all of it!

How do I put this about the menu... it's really classic Korean food? What stood out was how few meat dishes there are — the signature items are Spanish mackerel gondeure rice (with fish) and the veggie-packed eggplant doenjang rice bowl. I was a little puzzled at first, but after eating, my mind completely changed. It's genuinely delicious, so please give it a try!!! The eggplant doenjang rice bowl and herring roe bibim noodles we ordered at Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch came out fast — probably thanks to quick table turnover. The eggplant doenjang bowl arrives with roasted gim (seaweed) and a special vinegar, and the herring roe bibim noodles even come with woo-samgyeop (thinly sliced beef brisket).

The eggplant is loaded with smoky char, and mixed with plenty of chives, doenjang, and seasoning, it was genuinely delicious once stirred together. Wrapping it in the roasted gim that comes with the broth on the side? So good. There's also a special vinegar you pour in to taste and mix — absolutely delicious, top marks 👍🏻 A perfect dish for anyone who loves Korean food! Highly recommend.

Herring roe bibim noodles: any fishy smell?

I'd recently had another noodle dish with herring in it that was unbelievably fishy... so honestly, this was a challenge order for me. I told myself, if the herring roe isn't good, I'm never eating it again... haha, and with that resolve I bravely ordered the herring roe bibim noodles! Just looking at the photo, the amount of red herring roe was intimidating, and I was a bit nervous placing the order.

But wow, it's really, truly delicious. Zero fishy smell — the roe pops in your mouth like flying fish roe, and there's just so much of it, it was seriously delicious. The noodles were cooked well too, nice and chewy — how good is that? Craving noodles? Order this without a doubt. The woo-samgyeop on top made it hearty and filling, and I ate every bit of it happily.

Would I go back to Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch?

Korean restaurants are surprisingly rare around Seomyeon, so finding one I genuinely love makes me really happy haha. Jeonpo Hyangtaek gave me such a delicious, feel-good meal! I'll definitely be back again and again. Thanks for the great meal today 😻
