Seomyeon bar that's kid-friendly: owner's free egg dish, Yuumangju

After dinner in Seomyeon, we wanted a light second round of beer, so we stopped by Yuumangju, a Seomyeon bar recommendation, and had really tasty food and a great time.

Where is Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch?

Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch is a 2nd-floor bar located above Sseolpa in Seomyeon, on a really hot alley. You've probably passed by it at some point — the entrance has photos of the dishes and a menu introducing the variety of options.

Take the stairs up to the 2nd floor and you'll find a cool, spacious, and pleasant space.

We were escorted to a window seat by the really kind and thoughtful owner. She's so nice, haha.

A wide 2nd floor built for group dinners

As you can see in the photos, the interior is a really spacious area with lots of tables, so it would definitely be great for a group dinner.

It would be great to visit for various group get-togethers and gatherings in Seomyeon.

There's also a restroom inside, so you can use it comfortably and cleanly without having to go outside.

And here's a spot with a phone charging service and various supplies you might need! Feel free to make good use of it.

What's on the menu at Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch?

Now let's take a look at the menu and get ready for a nice cold beer. There's also a review event running, so feel free to join in without pressure and enjoy the perks.

Starting with the main menu, O-Dae-Bal (stir-fried squid, daechang, and chicken feet) already looked serious, haha — a combination that's hard not to love! There's also yukhoe shrimp jang kalbibim, kimchi daedori-tang, boiled pork with nurungji chicken gomtang, beef belly seafood hot pot, beef tendon odeng-tang, soft tofu mala pork skin, Yuumangju's mixed chicken, and more — the quality of the main menu was really excellent.

There's also a genre-crossing lineup of side dishes: chive pancake, potato pancake, doenjang sool-bap, kimchi udong pasta, mango bingsu, strawberry bingsu, rice balls, seafood ramyeon, and more, so you can try all sorts of things.

They also sell house-made makgeolli, which goes down so smoothly and tastes really good, haha.

Garlic baguette starter and a cold beer

I ordered the yukhoe shrimp jang kalbibim as the main dish along with a nice cold bottle of beer. Shortly after ordering, the garlic baguette arrived — sweet and a great way to start, haha.

Before the main dish arrived, we did a quick refreshing round first, haha.

The egg dish the owner cooked for our child

We stopped by with my son, and the owner said there wasn't anything on the menu for kids, so she made an egg dish herself... I was so grateful, ㅠㅠ

It even had cheese and crab sticks in it — a really delicious egg dish!

And then the yukhoe shrimp jang kalbibim that my wife and I would be eating finally arrived!

How big is the yukhoe shrimp jang kalbibim?

Isn't this seriously so generous?! This alone could definitely get you through several bottles of soju.

The gorgeous yukhoe (raw beef tartare)... with a gochujang-based seasoning, it was nicely salty and full of flavor.

And the shrimp jang was generous too — not just for show, there was really a lot of it!

And there were carbs too! A perfectly complete carb-protein-fat combo, haha.

The yukhoe and shrimp jang were both undeniably delicious! And what made it perfect as a drinking snack was the spicy yet addictive seasoning — the flavor was right up my alley.

Eating the kalbibim in between kept me satisfyingly full!

Popping the egg yolk and mixing it into the yukhoe gives you that flavor that keeps calling for more drinks. The portion was so generous that we could scoop up big bites like this, and it was so good.

Is Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch worth a visit?

Yuumangju, my Seomyeon bar recommendation, has such a warm and kind owner, plus generous side dishes that go so well with drinks. And since the space is so big and comfortable, it's definitely a great Seomyeon bar recommendation for group dinners!
