Chuseok family meal at Marine City Chinese: black vinegar tangsuyuk
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is an ocean-view Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, Busan, on the second floor above Subyeon Choigo Pork Gukbap. On the weekend before Chuseok, the writer's family took the private inner room and shared black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork, medium, 35,000 won), seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup, 18,000 won), poached-egg ganjajang and abalone shrimp fried rice. The black vinegar tangsuyuk, chewy like guobaorou, was the clear favorite of the day.

Hi, this is Daramji. My family came to visit Busan, and I was told about a nice Marine City restaurant where you can eat Chinese food while looking at the sea, so I took them there for a meal.

We ordered a bit of everything — black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk, poached-egg ganjajang, seafood jjamppong, and abalone shrimp fried rice. The prices aren't quite as cheap as an average Chinese restaurant, but the portions were pretty generous, and the black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk had a chewy texture like kkwabaegi (twisted sweet-and-sour fried pork) — it was my top pick of the day!

Where is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, and where do you park?
Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is located on the 2nd floor above Suybeon Choigo Pork Gukbap.

The elevator is a bit narrow, so if that makes you nervous, take the stairs!
The building the restaurant is in is the Adelis officetel — if you enter that into your navigation, it'll direct you straight to the parking lot. Call the rightmost visitor lane to get in, and they'll give you a parking ticket — just get it stamped.
Ocean-view window seats and the private family room

The moment I walked in, I was honestly surprised at how big and pretty this Busan ocean-view restaurant was haha. The tables are spaced generously apart, and the overall vibe is clean, calm, and trendy.

Above all, the window seats are really pretty. The sea is right there through the big windows, so I kept taking photos even before the food arrived. On one side you get the sea, and on the other, a view of the Busan city skyline — fun to look at either way.

Maybe because it was the weekend before Chuseok, there were a lot of people here for family gatherings or slightly more formal meals. If you're looking for a private room at a Busan Chinese restaurant, definitely consider this place.

I especially liked this inner room.
What are the most popular dishes at Bueokgan Chinese?
There are a lot of menu items that set this place apart from other Busan Chinese restaurants. The specialty dishes in particular seem to be famous!
The three most popular dishes are poached-egg five-layer pork ganjajang, beef brisket jjamppong, and black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk.

They give you a free order of eohyang mandu (fish-fragrant dumplings) if you write a receipt photo review.
Black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk, 35,000 won — chewy like guobaorou

Black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk, medium (₩35,000) — the dish my family voted best that day! Even the medium size came out really generously portioned. A pile of onions tops the big chunks of fried sirloin, served with black vinegar sauce on the side.

Instead of the typical old-school tangsuyuk, this was closer to kkwabaegi-style, with chewy batter. Bite into it and the outside is a little crispy while the inside batter is chewy like sticky rice — great texture. I've had this style before as bar food, but eating it at a proper Busan restaurant is just on another level..

Seafood jjamppong, 18,000 won
Seafood jjamppong (₩18,000) came loaded with seafood plus vegetables like onion and napa cabbage, which made it easy to scoop up along with the noodles. Since we ordered several dishes to share, the spicy jjamppong broth was a nice palate cleanser between bites.

This jjamppong has plenty of seafood — shrimp, mussels, squid, and more. True to a good Busan Chinese restaurant. Even in photos, the toppings catch your eye before the broth does! My sibling, who eats a lot, said the portion was genuinely huge.

Abalone shrimp fried rice
Whenever I go to a good Chinese restaurant in Busan, I always get the fried rice. I love tasting the fluffy egg fried rice along with that place's own jjajang sauce haha. This fried rice has shrimp and other seafood mixed in, so it's savory enough to eat on its own. Partway through, mixing in the jjajang sauce served on the side gave it a whole different feel!

There's a little abalone and shrimp mixed in too, and the black pork in the sauce!! was totally my style ㅠㅠ

Poached-egg ganjajang
I ordered this jjajangmyeon because it's a signature dish. It's ganjajang (dry black bean noodles) loaded with meat and cucumber and topped with a poached egg. The chunks of meat were sizable too, giving it a noticeably heavier, richer feel than a regular jjajangmyeon.

Popping the poached egg into the rich jjajang sauce and mixing it in adds the yolk for an even softer, nuttier flavor.
Verdict: an ocean-view Chinese restaurant in Busan that works for family gatherings
With the ocean view, spacious interior, and generous Chinese food combo, this was especially good for a meal with parents or when looking for an upscale restaurant in Busan. Portions were generous, and factoring in the atmosphere, the price feels worth it. Above all, the black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk exceeded expectations! If you like the chewy kkwabaegi style over regular tangsuyuk, definitely order it too.
