Why Bueokgan Chinese in Marine City was the last meal out before going back to work

Before going back to work, I wanted a meal with a nice view and some shopping too, so I found Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch. It's close to Shinsegae Department Store and Dongbaekseom (Camellia Island), making it perfect for a meal followed by a walk.

The moment I walked in, the wide-open ocean view felt so refreshing — with Dongbaekseom in sight, this place seems great for treating out-of-town guests too!

The floor-to-ceiling windows were open, and maybe thanks to the cooler weather, everyone was sitting by the window.

We took a window seat right away too! The view was so good it just lifted my mood. I had no idea there was a restaurant in Marine City with such an open sea view — I was so satisfied.

What are the group room and baby chairs like at Bueokgan Chinese?

At Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, besides the window seats there were also cooler indoor seats.

And this group room had a lush green, greenhouse-like feel that made it feel special! It was quiet too, so it seemed like a great Marine City spot for group gatherings.

Plenty of baby chairs were ready too, in generous numbers.

After ordering, I was a bit busy watching my little one, and before I knew it the food had arrived. It was a quiet weekday, so the food came out pretty fast.

What we ordered at Bueokgan Chinese and what it cost

We ordered mala coriander jjamppong (₩14,000), abalone shrimp fried rice (₩18,000), and pyogosha (₩22,000). None of these were dishes I'd had at any other Chinese restaurant, so I was excited.

First off, the view alone was a win at this Marine City spot, Bueokgan Chinese! The smell was amazing too. When ordering the mala coriander jjamppong, I asked for extra chili oil separately — if you're like us and love that numbing, spicy flavor, just ask for extra chili oil on the side.

Abalone shrimp fried rice, 18,000 won

The abalone shrimp fried rice came with egg drop soup. If a fried rice place also serves egg drop soup alongside it, that's basically an unwritten rule that it's a good jjamppong place, you know?

It came with jjajang sauce on the side, and the savory smell got my appetite going. Taking a spoonful, the abalone and shrimp had such a great, satisfying bite.

Mala coriander jjamppong, 14,000 won, with extra chili oil

And then the mala coriander jjamppong! If you love both mala spice and coriander, this dish is guaranteed to be a hit for you — haha, that's exactly me...

It had been a while since I tasted coriander like this, and it was so good. Add the distinctive numbing kick of mala on top, and you don't even need mala tang separately — the balance between mala tang and jjamppong was really nice.

The ingredients were generous too, so I could eat the noodles together with the toppings the whole way through. It also tasted great paired with the fried rice we ordered.

Pyogosha, 22,000 won: shiitake mushroom instead of bread

Pyogosha is a dish where shiitake mushrooms (pyogo) replace the bread in mianbaoxia (menbosha). I'm generally a fan of shiitake sweet-and-sour dishes too, so this was an instant favorite.

The mushroom came sliced in half, so there was no worry about it being too hot to eat right away. The cross-section looked really pretty too.

Dipping it deep into the sauce made me crave a beer! For a Marine City spot for group gatherings, there were really so many dishes here that go well with drinks.

Is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch worth a visit?

If a review event is running, be sure to grab the complimentary eohyang mandu (fish-fragrant dumplings) too. I visited Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch wanting one last meal with a good view before returning to work, and it really seemed like a great place for group gatherings as well.
