Songpa bar with 40-min Friday wait, pollock roe cheese jeon: Jojomomo

In short

Jojomomo is a Korean bar in Songpa, Seoul, tucked underground in the Bangi restaurant alley. On a Friday evening with three teams ahead, the wait was about 40 minutes, but the pollock roe cheese potato jeon, cream tteokbokki with sea tangle scallops, and Dowon-gyeorui soju paired with a pick-your-own glass made it worth it. With mood lighting and a bar table for solo drinkers, it's a solid pick for dates, blind dates, or drinking alone.

Main photo of Jojomomo, a bar in Bangi, Songpa

I went to Jojomomo in Bangi, Songpa for a casual drink with a friend on a Friday night. I'd heard the vibe was good, and honestly the atmosphere was even more emotional and cozy than I expected. Today I'll share the menu I recommend and my honest review of Jojomomo.

Since I visited right after work on a Friday evening, there was a wait. The restaurant sits in the middle of the famous Bangi restaurant alley, and most of the bars and restaurants there had waits too.

About 3 teams were waiting ahead of us. We killed time shopping nearby and got in after about 40 minutes.

Once inside, the lighting and interior were well put together overall.

It felt clean yet emotional, the kind of place that would work well for a date. Honestly, it seemed perfect for a blind date too. There's also a bar table, which would suit someone drinking alone.

What we ordered and the range of drinks

Here's a photo of the menu — there was so much to choose from it was hard to pick! Here's what we went with.

  • Pollock roe cheese potato jeon (₩19,000)
  • Cream tteokbokki with sea tangle scallops (₩27,000)
  • Dowon-gyeorui (₩13,000)

Instead of plain soju, we picked Dowon-gyeorui to match the mood.

One fun thing — when you order alcohol, they bring out several different types of glasses.

You get to pick whichever glass you like, so my friend and I each chose one.

Little touches like this made it feel more special than just drinking plainly.

After ordering, we got a basic side of crackers and potato salad, and the plating was nice and clean too. We also got two glasses of Jirisan Gangsoju as a welcome drink. It was fun getting to try traditional liquor right from the start at a Korean bar.

So how did the food taste?

Cream tteokbokki with sea tangle scallops topped with sea tangle

The cream tteokbokki with sea tangle scallops arrived, and it looked pretty from the moment it came out. Piled high with sea tangle and packed with plenty of scallops, it looked hearty and upscale.

The cream tteokbokki came in little round rice-cake balls, easy to pick up one at a time, and the thick, rich cream sauce really suited my taste.

Every so often there was a crispy nurungji (scorched rice)-like texture too, which made it different and fun compared to regular tteokbokki.

The staff recommended putting the cream sauce, sea tangle, and scallop on the bread that came with the dish, so we tried it — and honestly that combination worked really well together.

Eating it that way was so good that I'm still thinking about that flavor now!

Next up was the pollock roe cheese potato jeon (savory pancake). With so much cheese piled on top, my first thought was that it looked more like a pizza.

It came sliced into easy-to-eat pieces, and dipping it in the sauce that came with it, it was salty and savory — a great match with drinks.

With so much cheese piled on, it looked great and was an easy dish to enjoy alongside drinks.

It was a nice spot to catch up with a friend over drinks, and the food came out faster than I expected, so we got to enjoy the mood while we waited. Above all, the interior and lighting are pretty, so it'd suit anyone looking for a bar for dates or blind dates. Having a bar table so there's an option for drinking alone was a nice touch too.

If you're looking for a bar with a good atmosphere in the Bangi restaurant alley in Songpa, why not check out Jojomomo? Thanks to its emotional atmosphere and pretty-looking food, it worked well as a date spot, and it felt versatile enough for solo drinking, hanging out with friends, dates, and blind dates alike. I want to come back for my next get-together, and if anyone asks me about bars in Songpa, I'd recommend it without hesitation as a great mood spot — I was that satisfied!
