Truffle fries and steak strips at Sugar Hill, a Haebangchon wine bar

I went with a friend not long ago and the atmosphere was absolutely insane, I completely fell for it — bringing you my honest review of Sugar Hill in Haebangchon!

You know Haebangchon's Sinheung Market is super hot right now, right? And the weather has been so nice???? You have to go for Haebangchon outdoor seating. A wine bar bursting with mood.. a Haebangchon date spot..... I went to Sugar Hill in Haebangchon.

• Address: 95-9 Sinheung-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul (Yongsan-dong 2-ga, inside Sinheung Market), South Korea
• Hours: 18:00 – 23:00
• Closed Mondays and Tuesdays!
• Parking: no dedicated lot since it's inside Sinheung Market (Yongsan 2-ga-dong public parking lot recommended)
• I'd recommend taking the Yongsan02 village bus from Noksapyeong Station or Sookmyung Women's University Station

The ultimate Haebangchon mood. As soon as you step into the Sinheung Market alley, Sugar Hill's hipness hits you right from the entrance! The exterior is so pretty I took like fifty thousand photos before even going in, haha.

What's the interior atmosphere like?

Walking inside... wow... oh my god it's so pretty 😭😭

The lighting is so soft and lovely, and with the fresh flowers placed around, the mood is insane!!

Every angle looks like it's straight out of a magazine, so I got my profile picture right away... If you're looking for a Haebangchon date course, you absolutely have to come here.

Juju's steak strips & boduemi shell pasta

The main dish we ordered, Juju's steak strips! The meat literally melts in your mouth ㅠㅠ so juicy with a great chew, and the pairing with the garnish was so on point.

Boduemi shell pasta? First time I've ever had this. The shell-shaped pasta traps the sauce right inside... it's so savory and delicious... the cheese flavor was insane. Perfect as a side with wine or cocktails!

Fries & white wine combo

Everyone... please pay attention;;;; the fries and white wine combo is insane 🔥🔥 the fries have this truffle scent drifting off them, salty, and you just keep reaching for more...

Pair that with a clean, crisp sip of white wine and you'll feel like you own the whole world 🤤 you absolutely must try this combo, please!! Best fries I've ever had, honestly;;;

The meat was so tender... I want to eat it again.

The signature Obok cocktail tastes like omija

Since it's the signature, I ordered the Obok cocktail! The color is gorgeous and vivid, and it's tangy and sweet, so even people who can't drink much can enjoy this pretty cocktail happily 🍹 It tastes like omija (schisandra berry)!!

I wonder what brand they use..? When I said it was so good, they said they use a higher-grade one, haha. That sauce over there was crazy good too... the white wine seemed to be a pricier bottle too, honestly.. it was delicious. Slightly dry!!

Honest verdict & 95% return-visit rating

Honestly, the prices are a bit on the higher side, so it's not exactly a budget spot!! But the atmosphere was so, so pretty and just the best 💖 The owner and staff were incredibly kind, top-tier level, so I felt great the whole time I was there!

Moved by how kind everyone was, I want to go back again soon just to soak in the vibe ㅠㅠ It's kind of a place I want to brag about.. If you're in Haebangchon looking for a great restaurant, a cocktail bar or wine bar with good food and atmosphere, I totally, totally recommend Sugar Hill in Haebangchon 👍✨
