Walking inside, there were so many customers, and around the walls you could see signs with menu information.

Once seated, they gave us barley tea, so I had a drink of water while picking the menu — that was really nice.

By the register, you could try a gacha draw related to Naver reviews, and there was hair ties, dental floss, hand cream, toothpicks, floss, disposable mouthwash, even a portable battery — really well stocked and great to see.

Sonsi Sushi Hayang branch takes orders via kiosk. Looking at the menu, it starts with the lunch special, then...

set menus / assorted sushi / individual sushi

rolls, rice, noodles, tempura / kids menu / drinks and alcohol

There was also a button for extra side dishes if needed, a Naver review event, parking info, Wi-Fi — really a wide variety of menu options.

We ordered the value set and the ankimo futomaki, and had a cola to cleanse our palate in the meantime.

"All of Sonsi Sushi's number ones": the value set for two

Now the value set has arrived! Even just from the photo you can tell the portion for two is really generous.

On the left is the sashimi rice bowl portion of the value set, and on the right is the premium 12-piece assorted sushi portion. It all looked so appetizing — I was really happy!

Now let's try the value set piece by piece! I'd recommend checking out the video too!

The sashimi rice bowl had a nice variety of raw fish and egg strips, which was great. And in front, there was handmade apple vinegar sauce.

It also came with udon broth and shrimp tempura. Taking a bite of the shrimp tempura, the outside was really crispy and the inside was juicy — so good!

The premium 12-piece assorted sushi had a great variety — salmon nigiri, eel nigiri, gizzard shad, tuna belly, and more — really nice!

The udon portion was really large too — eating it alongside the sushi, you'd get super full!

Let's try the premium assorted sushi from the value set. I'd recommend checking out the video too!

Before eating the sushi, let's pour on some soy sauce. Since they use jujube-aged soy sauce, I'm even more excited!

Let's try one of the sushi pieces from the value set at Sonsi Sushi Hayang branch.

Taking a bite, the fish was really chewy and good, and the rice was really delicious too.

Sushi really tastes its best dipped in soy sauce — eating it with the soy sauce made it even more delicious!

Eating it together with the udon made me feel really full and satisfied! I'd recommend checking the video for the udon noodles.

Dipping the shrimp tempura in this sauce made it even more delicious, just so you know! I'd really recommend eating the shrimp tempura this way!

How to mix the handmade apple vinegar sashimi rice bowl

Now let's try the sashimi rice bowl portion of the value set at Sonsi Sushi Hayang branch.

They pour the handmade apple vinegar sauce over the sashimi rice bowl. You can adjust how much to add for taste. I didn't pour all of it — I used about 3/4.

Mixing the vinegar sauce into the rice bowl...

the tangy aroma of the vinegar sauce went really well with the raw fish,

and the texture of the fish was really chewy, going nicely with the vegetables in the rice.

Mixed together with the nutty flavor of the seaweed and sesame oil, I got to enjoy a nutty, tangy, chewy sashimi rice bowl.

I wanted to eat more tuna belly, so I ordered it separately!

Now let's try the ankimo futomaki too! I took a sip of cola first, then went in for the ankimo futomaki.

Taking a bite, the fish was chewy as expected,

and the distinctive nutty flavor of the monkfish liver was really good. If you're trying futomaki for the first time, I'd recommend starting here!

The ankimo futomaki was really big, which left me nice and full!

When I go to a good restaurant, there's one thing I always do to say thanks: the empty-plate proof!

The portions were so generous I ate my fill. From the tempura to the udon, side dishes, sushi, and sashimi rice bowl — this was a truly delicious place.
