Why long semi-curly hair needed magic straightening and a C-curl perm

I'm famous for reeaally not going to hair salons. My hair is seriously semi-curly and it's stressed me out since I was little! But magic straightening (a Korean straightening treatment) falls out way too fast. It's over ₩100,000 and lasts maybe 2 months before it's gone, so it felt like such a waste of money — after that I swore off magic straightening for good. A perm, though, once you get it, it doesn't come out even if you leave it for 2+ years haha. So I'd get a perm and just tie my hair up every single day!

Parking and how to find Salon Of in Gangseo-dong

If you just follow your navigation, you'll see the entrance down to the underground parking lot right away! The lot is big so don't worry about parking haha. Make sure to grab your parking ticket after your treatment! I forgot to bring mine and got hit with a ₩42,000 charge, which totally shocked me haha, so I ran back and grabbed the ticket lol.

Once you get off the elevator, walk straight ahead and you'll see the Salon Of sign!

Designer Doa's plan: straightening with a C-curl on the ends

The whole shop is white-toned so it looked super clean. Since it's on the 2nd floor with a full glass wall, the view was really nice too!!! I was treated by designer Doa! Just a heads up — booking designer Doa through Naver Pay currently gets you a 20% discount event, so keep that in mind!

My hair didn't have much layering and was just kind of plain long hair from a perm I'd gotten about a year earlier. So designer Doa made a recommendation — add a bit more layering, and instead of fully straight magic straightening, go with a C-curl perm that leaves a little curl at the ends. That's what we did!

How the 3-hour perm session felt at Salon Of

The hardest part of getting your hair done is definitely sitting still forever! Honestly, that's exactly why I avoid salons — sitting for a long time is so hard for me lol. But at Salon Of, I didn't feel tired at all during the treatment!

They brought me coffee and even gave me a cushion so my arms could rest comfortably! I was honestly a little surprised the coffee tasted as good as coffee from a regular café! Every time designer Doa was about to start a new step, she'd tell me what she was doing, which made it so much more comfortable! Instead of endless waiting, I could tell roughly how much longer it'd take, which I loved haha.

The shampoo room was also super clean. During the neutralizing step (?) I had to lie down for about 10 minutes, but the chair was so comfortable I kind of wanted to just keep lying there! And designer Doa's shampoo technique felt so refreshing...

For the heat processing, they move you to a seat by the big glass window like this! You can read magazines and there's wifi, so I never got bored while waiting!

I got magic straightening plus a C-curl perm and it took about 3 hours! When they first told me it'd take 3 hours I felt a bit overwhelmed, but it felt more like just 1 hour had passed! I was so comfortable during the treatment that I completely lost track of time!

I kept watching because the process was fun, and designer Doa seemed really meticulous! It all looked the same to me, but apparently not to her — she kept adjusting and fixing things over and over!!!! That made me trust her even more.

Before and after: how the flyaway, puffy hair changed

This is my hair before the treatment. It doesn't show that much in photos, but in sunlight I had a bomb of flyaway hairs, and once fully dry my hair would just puff up and float, so I always kept it tied up. Also this photo is with slightly damp hair haha.

And here's after! So so clean now. Seriously so satisfied ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ My hair wasn't damaged at all — if anything the texture actually got better haha. I'm never tying it up again!!!

My boyfriend always used to go on and on about how he loves long straight hair, but when he saw the result he said it looked way better now!!!! Hehe.
