Seoul Station gyukatsu and beef belly rice bowl: Furato Shokudo

Hi everyone~ today I've got a gyukatsu spot near Seoul Station to share with you~

I was hanging out in Yongsan over the weekend and tried a few Sinyongsan restaurants, but the waits were all way too long.. so I went a bit further to Seoul Station and had gyukatsu at Furato Shokudo instead. It was so much more pleasant than I expected haha. They don't just do gyukatsu — they've got a variety of rice bowls too, and since it's in the basement of Seoul Square, it seemed like a good spot for office workers to grab a quick weekday lunch as well.

Ooh~ can you see the cross-section~~ the gyukatsu cooked to a perfect pink, served with wasabi, cabbage, and pickled vegetables. So juicy and so good .. 🖤

Furato Shokudo, a gyukatsu restaurant near Seoul Station, is a 1-minute walk from Exit 9! Come in through the main entrance on the 1st floor of Seoul Square, take the escalator on the left down, and it's right there on the left~

Parking at Furato Shokudo Seoul Square

If you eat at Furato Shokudo, you can use the Seoul Square building parking! We went on a weekend and they gave us 2 hours 👍 Ask separately about weekday free parking hours! Valet is also available but it costs money (₩5,000), so I felt like it wasn't really necessary.

The sign was right there as soon as we came down the escalator, so it wasn't hard to find!

There's a Catch Table tablet right by the entrance, so if there's a wait you can register there. There's also a menu board next to it, which was nice to look over while waiting~ We got in for the first seating right after break time ended, so there was no wait for us~ Thinking about how long we would've waited in Sinyongsan.. I really felt like coming here was the right call lol.

Inside Furato Shokudo: seating and atmosphere

The interior was clean overall! Group seating is available for up to 8 people, and they said reservations are possible too, so if you're looking for a meetup spot near Seoul Station, keep this in mind~

Since this is a gyukatsu specialty restaurant, every table has a small tabletop griddle set up! You put the gyukatsu on it and grill it further to your liking. It's not one per person — it looked like there's 1 griddle for a 2-top table and 2 for a 4-top.

Furato Shokudo menu and prices

Let me share the menu board at Furato Shokudo, a gyukatsu spot near Seoul Station! Gyukatsu, steki set, and steki don are ₩19,500, while omurice, Yamagata minced pork curry, and uamsgyeopsal don are ₩14,500. Udon and cold soba are in the low ₩10,000s, good for a lighter side dish~ You can also add extra meat (₩15,500) to the gyukatsu and steki sets. With rice bowls and curry on top of everything else, the menu felt varied enough to be a solid lunch option for office workers near Seoul Station!

Gyukatsu set, ₩19,500 per person

We each ordered a gyukatsu and also wanted to try the uamsgyeopsal don, so we added that on top haha.

The two gyukatsu sets came out first! Rice, miso soup, cabbage salad, pickled vegetables, and kimchi all came with it as a full set — the spread felt really satisfying~ The sauces were three kinds: salt, chili, and soy.

Can you see how thick the meat is~~ the breading was thin and crispy, and the inside was pink, which alone made my mouth water 🤤

They put it on the griddle and lightly grilled both sides. It's fun to leave one side rare and cook the other more, then compare as you eat haha.

I liked it best with a little wasabi on top, dipped in salt! The meat was so tender it just melted — it was genuinely so good!!

Grilling it until it got golden grill marks made it look even more delicious. The portion at Furato Shokudo was generous and the meat quality was great, so I feel like I'll come back for it again whenever I'm at Seoul Station 👍

Beef belly rice bowl (usamgyeop-deopbap), ₩14,500

This is the uamsgyeopsal don we ordered on top! Beef belly topped with green onion, with a separate egg yolk you mix in yourself~ The portion of meat was generous and tasty, so it seemed like a great order for lunch too. Miso soup and kimchi come along with it!

There was plenty of beef belly, and mixed with the rice, sauce, and bean sprouts it was sweet and salty and so good~ If you feel like gyukatsu alone isn't enough, I'd highly recommend adding a rice bowl to split~
