Yongsan Korean snack restaurant for a huge sharing combo: Hyeonseonine

For the record, both my big-eating boyfriend and I were VERY satisfied 🙌 It was delicious in the most classic Korean-snack-food way, and the set portion was seriously, seriously, seriously huge!!!!!

Getting to Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch from Yongsan and Sinyongsan Stations

This is where it is!! It is close to both Sinyongsan Station and Yongsan Station, so it is super easy to get to 💛 As you walk down the alley, you will spot a long banner reading “Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch” on a large building; head in through the red-and-yellow canopied entrance underneath, like an old-school snack shop in front of a school.

From the outside, I thought it would not be that big, but once inside, it was quite spacious!!!!! First of all, the ceilings are insanely high, so it did not feel cramped at all, which I loved. The tables are nicely spread out, too, and there are lots of four-person tables!!! Even though there were two of us, they seated us at a four-person table, so we could eat comfortably, haha.

Just how big is the Hyeonseonine Combo Set?

The item I ordered from this menu was the “Hyeonseonine Combo Set”!! I highly recommend it if you want to try a little bit of everything and leave full ♥️

The amount is... really, really, really huge, hahaha. One generously filled bowl of tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), one bowl of sundae (Korean blood sausage), mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), three fish cakes, and an assorted fried-snack set.... There was so much that we ate our hardest and still ended up with leftovers. Honestly, it is enough for three people if you are going with just the girls, truly!!!!

Sweet-spicy tteokbokki and chewy sundae

The most important thing: it is delicious!!!!!!!!! It tastes like the ideal version of Korean snack food!!!!!! That sweet-spicy tteokbokki you picture when you think of Korean snacks, plus chewy sundae and gimbap!!! 💛♥️

• You can choose from three spice levels for the tteokbokki: mild, medium, or spicy. If you cannot handle spice, I recommend mild!! My boyfriend cannot handle spice and said medium was hot, while I just thought it was delicious.
• You can also choose whether you want offal included with the sundae!!

The staff member who first explained things and asked how we wanted those options was so kind, too. So good,,,,✨🌟🥹

The fish cakes were delicious too, with a really rich broth.

The sundae was wonderfully dense and chewy, and the offal was great with no unpleasant smell. And the mini gimbap—what more is there to say? Dip it in the tteokbokki sauce and it is heaven,,✨

And this bursting-at-the-seams set costs only ₩26,000,, Split among three people, that is just a little over ₩8,000 each,,,, It is genuinely delicious and such good valueㅠ I highly recommend it,,,💛🩷♥️

Instant tteokbokki and self-serve fried-batter crumbs

Besides the set we ordered, they also have instant tteokbokki. The table next to us ordered it, and when I peeked over, that portion looked pretty huge too!!! They have butter-garlic fries, which you cannot leave out with instant tteokbokki, plus dumplings and lots of other sides, so instant tteokbokki with the butter-garlic fries would be sooo good…💛 The people next to us were having exactly that, and I kept hearing them say how massive the portions were,,, I am going to try the instant tteokbokki next time!!!

Aprons and water from the dispenser are self-serve, and you can help yourself to pickled radish and fried-batter crumbs too!!!

Personally, having a whole container of these crispy fried-batter crumbs available was such a smart touch… the best 💛💛💛 The tteokbokki is tasty on its own, but ♥️🌟sprinkle the crumbs all over it, soak them in the sauce, and eat them together—it is seriously, seriously ridiculously delicious🌟♥️ If you are visiting after reading this, please!!! take a big scoop of the crumbs and sprinkle them on—I highly recommend it, haha. They are in a big container and self-serve, so it is easy to have more without feeling awkward about asking for extra!!!

Lastly, I was way too full to join, but they also had a Naver review event that gives you an icy slush!! haha. I saw people at several tables taking part, and they piled it high in big paper cups, so I thought they were really generous with it. If you look toward the kitchen, you can even see the slush machine whirring away!!!🍧🍧

In Yongsan, where prices are high but reviews are not always great,, it is genuinely hard to find a good-value place to eat. If you want a delicious, filling meal without worrying about the price, I highly, highly recommend Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki Yongsan Main Branch, one of Yongsan’s great food spots 💛♥️
