Yongsan Italian restaurant cheese-fall lasagna: Villa de Blue
In short
Villa de Blue Haebangchon is an Italian brunch bar and wine-dining restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul, inspired by Amalfi. I reserved ahead for the aligot cheese lasagna and Polpo Mambo, and loved the tableside cheese waterfall and incredibly tender octopus. Verdict: a place I’d happily revisit for a Haebangchon date or blind date.

I recently went back to Villa de Blue Haebangchon, one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Haebangchon—and such a great date-course spot! I had such a lovely memory of my last visit that I’d put a big star on my map, you know.

Villa de Blue Haebangchon is an Italian brunch bar and wine-dining restaurant inspired by Amalfi, a city in southern Italy. From the entrance onward, it has such a crisp, refreshing atmosphere that makes you feel as if you’ve arrived in Amalfi. And this blue door in particular is a photo spot in itself!

I visited with a reservation, and walk-ins can join the waitlist through Catchtable in front of the restaurant.

A bright interior that feels like a terrace
The restaurant feels bright and cheerful the moment you walk in. There are window tables that feel like a terrace even though they aren’t one, and soft daylight comes through the wide-open windows, making the fresh atmosphere feel even more vivid.

The bar-table area has a completely different feel—like a beach bar by the sea, perfect for casually having a drink.

It’s the kind of place that lifts your mood as soon as you enter, so it’s just perfect for a date or a blind date.
Villa de Blue Haebangchon menu

There’s a delicious selection of Italian-style Mediterranean dishes, steaks, pasta, and sides. Villa de Blue’s famous signature dishes are the cheese-fall lasagna and butter sizzling steak.

The butter sizzling steak comes with hot butter poured over it. Its price is set according to the weight prepared that day, so you can scan the QR code on the table to see which steaks are available to order.

I ordered the aligot cheese lasagna for ₩22,000, Polpo Mambo for ₩25,000, an Aperol Spritz for ₩12,000, and a Matilda French Lemonade for ₩5,000.

Ahh, the autumn air and the atmosphere—so happy, so happy~
Aligot cheese lasagna finished at the table
When you order the aligot cheese lasagna, you get to watch a cheese-waterfall performance right at the table.

They quickly mix the soft aligot cheese, then spread it all over the top—wow, it looked seriously so appetizing!!
Do you all happen to know how hard it is to find a really well-made lasagna? I truly love lasagna, so I mean it. Villa de Blue really knows how to make it! The sauce had the perfect balance, the lasagna sheets were just the right thickness and beautifully cooked, and the cheese on top was the finishing touch!

I seriously love Villa de Blue... 💗
Polpo Mambo that made me love octopus

Could only the lasagna be delicious?! Nope. The Polpo Mambo was absolutely perfect too!!! I think this may be the first time I’ve had octopus this tender in Korea (okay, maybe that’s a tiny exaggeration) haha.

From the moment I cut into it, I thought, wow, this tenderness is no joke. The first bite made me want to applaud the chef! I usually dislike octopus because it’s tough and takes so much chewing, you know?!?! But my friend loves polpo so much that we ordered it—and now I’ve fallen for Villa de Blue’s polpo~

The atmosphere, humidity, temperature, the look of the food, even the taste—there wasn’t a single thing that wasn’t perfect! This is why I love Villa de Blue~
