Mangwon beer bar with just 4 tables for round two: Macho Nacho

Today I'm introducing a place that's really nice for a second round in Mangwon — the beer bar Macho Nacho. Both the food and beer prices are on the cheap side, so you can go without worrying about the bill, and since it's near the Han River and takeout is possible, in weather like this it's perfect to get it to go and eat it by the river with a canned beer. Where is Macho Nacho, and its hours and parking

Macho Nacho sits right on the road at the big intersection leading into Mangwon Hangang Park. The address is 128 Huiujeong-ro, 1F, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea.

The shop is on the smaller side. You can spot it by the sign and the open window, and compared to the shops next door, it's got a lot more character sticking out haha.

• Hours: Mon–Thu 17:00–01:00 / Fri–Sun 13:00–01:00
• Closed: every Tuesday, fixed
• Parking: no dedicated lot, so it's easiest to use the public parking right out front on the street or the one at Han River Park

Only 4 tables at Macho Nacho: phone ahead for groups

Macho Nacho has about 4 tables, and they'll push them together if you come as a group. Since seating isn't exactly plentiful, if you're visiting with a bunch of people, I'd recommend calling ahead to check availability — reservations are possible, so I'd suggest booking one.

For a place this size, the restroom is usually outside the building, but Macho Nacho's restroom is inside and it's really clean, which I like. These days, if the restroom is dirty.. I just don't want to come back.

I don't remember this being here before, but this time I noticed an archery game. Given the size of the place, it doesn't seem like you could actually play it there, so it might just be an interior decoration item haha.

Macho Nacho's nacho menu and prices

Macho Nacho's most basic nacho dish costs ₩8,900. I'd also visited a few weeks earlier, and this time the menu had been updated a bit. The front page was switched to a coated sheet, and some of the food descriptions had changed slightly (like for the rolled egg). Only regulars would catch that haha.

What is the signature nacho at Macho Nacho?

• Macho Nachos ₩8,900 — nachos + house-made salsa + 3 sauces (dipping cheese, sour cream, tomato sauce)
• Signature Nachos ₩13,900 — Macho Nachos + cheese + bacon
• Cilantro Nachos ₩13,900 — Macho Nachos + cilantro + guacamole
• Beef Brisket Nachos ₩13,900 — Macho Nachos + cheese + beef brisket
• Meat Sobo Nachos ₩14,400 — Macho Nachos + cheese + seasoned ground meat
• Pepperoni Pizza Nachos ₩15,900 — Macho Nachos + double cheese + pepperoni

The value here is solid... Even ordering two dishes comes to under ₩20,000!! Even the basic nachos come with house-made salsa and several sauces, which is pretty great, and you can add just the toppings you want to the basic order too!!

I like guacamole but I'm not really a cilantro person, so I ordered the basic nachos with guacamole added for +₩3,000. With all the sauces piled on top, the visuals were solid.

Why 4,000 won draft beer made Macho Nacho the round-two stop

Macho Nacho's draft beer is a whopping ₩4,000... These days pretty much every draft beer place charges ₩5,000, so it's not easy to find somewhere selling it at ₩4,000, and with the food being cheap on top of that, I really love this place. The cold beer arrived — cheers! — and it just so happened that right when we ordered, they'd swapped in a new keg and pulled the very first pour, so it was even colder, cleaner, and tastier than usual.

The place we went to for round one that day charged ₩5,500 for draft beer.. so after one drink there, we headed straight to Macho Nacho for round two.

The best way to eat Macho Nacho's nachos

Instead of eating the nachos as they come out, it's tastier if you break them into pieces with a spoon and mix them with the sauces. Once you break them up and mix everything, the visuals get a bit... messed up, but eating it crushed up like that with a spoon is both tasty and fun, so I'd recommend trying it this way!!

Is Macho Nacho in Mangwon worth it?

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call Macho Nacho the No. 1 bar for value in Mangwon-dong. For two people, even ordering basic nachos plus one draft beer each comes to under ₩20,000 — incredible value, paired with light but delicious food and plenty of atmosphere!! If you're looking for a budget-friendly bar, this is the place to go.
