Ramen Truck Konkuk University Branch is in a really convenient spot — only about 50 meters from Exit 3 of Children's Grand Park Station. I'd gone to Children's Grand Park for a weekend walk, and after wandering around the pretty spacious park, I got hungry. Meat felt too heavy but a basic Korean set meal felt too plain, so while searching for restaurants near Children's Grand Park Station I found a ramen spot and headed to Ramen Truck.

Ramen Truck sits on the first floor of a red brick building, and honestly the sign gave off vibes of a stylish café. Outside, there were photos and descriptions of each menu item.

Walking through the door, I suddenly felt teleported to Japan haha. The atmosphere was really similar to the ramen shops I used to visit on trips to Japan.

What two people ordered at Ramen Truck Konkuk University Branch

You order through the kiosk at the entrance. With two of us there, we ordered kyokai tonkotsu ramen, special ramen, gyoza, and the happy hour draft beer for just ₩2,000.

Window seats and yuzu-scented danmuji at Ramen Truck

After ordering we sat by the window with a view outside. I liked that both the bar seats and table seats had plenty of space. Each table had kimchi and danmuji (pickled radish) set out to serve yourself. A unique touch at this Konkuk-area ramen spot was that the danmuji had a yuzu scent, which made it taste even more refreshing alongside the ramen.

The beer came out ice cold and was only ₩2,000, which felt like great value. We sipped the cold beer while waiting for the ramen.

How do the kyokai tonkotsu ramen and special ramen taste?

The kyokai tonkotsu ramen and special ramen we ordered arrived. At the kiosk there were free options for extra noodles, minced garlic, and cheongyang chili, so I added all three — which made the special ramen look even more special haha.

The broth at this Konkuk-area favorite had incredible depth of flavor. It's a rich pork bone tonkotsu broth with seafood (kyokai) added, which is what gives it that standout flavor. Tonkotsu ramen can sometimes taste too greasy, but the seafood cut through it cleanly for a savory finish — no off smell, no heaviness, and I really loved that.

Maybe because they use thin noodles (hosomen), the broth soaked into them really well. They were cooked just firm enough, with perfect texture.

Since I'd added the free extra noodle serving, the portion was huge. After walking around Children's Grand Park I was starving, so I basically inhaled the noodles.

Since I ordered the special ramen, it came loaded with meat too. The well-cooked chashu filled me up with a totally different texture from the noodles.

Gyoza with 2,000 won happy hour draft beer

After working through the noodles for a while, our gyoza arrived. It's a menu I always order at ramen shops when traveling in Japan, so having it here made me feel like I was back in Japan. It was authentic Japanese-style gyoza, pan-fried crispy on one side and left soft and steamed on the other — biting in, the meat juices burst out and filled my mouth.

Ramen pairs well with draft beer too, but gyoza was 200% the perfect match with a cold one.

Eating both the gyoza and the ramen, I got happily full. Most of all, the rich broth kept calling to me, so I kept scooping it up with my spoon.

I ate the ramen down to the very last strand and emptied the bowl. This was the most delicious ramen I'd had since my last trip to Japan.
