Seongsu restaurant for octopus with potatoes: Billadeubeulleu

In short

Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a Mediterranean restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul, near Seoul Forest. We tried the ₩22,000 aligot cheese lasagna and Polpo Mambo on the terrace, then finished with ice cream from the Naver receipt-review event. Verdict: a wonderfully relaxed weekend brunch spot for sunshine and a light breeze.

After working so fiercely all week, don’t you just want to spend the weekend healing over delicious food in a peaceful, unhurried atmosphere? So this weekend, my partner and I visited a special Seongsu restaurant where we could soak up both Seongsu’s fresh energy and the feeling of a Mediterranean resort.

Visiting a Mediterranean dining restaurant in Seongsu-dong

It was Billadeubeulleu Seongsu (Villa de Bleu), known for its stylish plating and authentic Mediterranean dining! I had already heard plenty about its famous Haebangchon branch, but the newly visited Seongsu location was much larger and even had a perfectly set-up outdoor terrace.

On a day like these, with a blue autumn sky and a warm, gentle breeze, I can’t think of a better Seoul Forest brunch spot for sitting on the terrace and lingering over a meal, so I had to share it with you.

Before you go, I recommend taking a look at the restaurant’s refreshing everyday updates, seasonal-menu information, and event news, too!

A blue-and-white terrace like a Mediterranean resort

The first impression the moment I entered Billadeubeulleu Seongsu was of a refreshing Mediterranean resort in blue and white.

The whole interior combines a marble-like finish, clean wood, and white-and-blue stripes, creating the exotic feeling of dropping into a beautiful restaurant on the Mediterranean coast. The restaurant is spacious, with a comfortably high ceiling, so it felt relaxed yet polished enough for a Seoul Forest group dinner, family gathering, or pre-wedding invitation meet-up. I’m strongly considering recommending it for our next company get-together.

The weather was so lovely that we chose an outdoor terrace table! With lush green plants and wooden tables, the terrace caught the sunlight beautifully while a soft breeze drifted through, letting us fully enjoy the charm of weekend brunch. It honestly felt like escaping everyday exhaustion for a leisurely resort brunch, and I was happy throughout the meal.

Aligot cheese lasagna and Polpo Mambo

We ordered Billadeubeulleu’s unmistakable signature aligot cheese lasagna, Polpo Mambo (a Mediterranean-style octopus dish), and refreshing drinks to cleanse the palate. The colorful presentation and layered aromas distinctive to Mediterranean food filled the table—it was a treat for all the senses even before we ate!

Aligot cheese lasagna flowing like a waterfall

The first dish to arrive was the aligot cheese lasagna (₩22,000), a signature that feels like the symbol of Billadeubeulleu!

The staff presentation was the highlight. Right at the table, they generously pour warm melted aligot cheese—a rich, stretchy French sauce made with potatoes and cheese—over neatly baked meat tomato lasagna. The cheese cascading like a waterfall was so spectacular that I couldn’t not pick up my camera!

I scooped up a generous forkful of cheese and lasagna, and the chewy, silky cheese and the deeply simmered meat tomato sauce filled my mouth. The meat sauce was nicely seasoned with deep savoriness, making a dream pairing with the nutty cheese.

Its soft texture makes it a flavor anyone, young or old, could fall for without hesitation, and you could really taste the depth behind a true signature lasagna.

The next dish we tried was Polpo Mambo, a Mediterranean-style octopus dish with elegant plating that stood out at a glance.

Like the kind of Mediterranean octopus dish you might have at a restaurant along the Spanish or Italian coast, it comes with tender, well-grilled octopus tentacle, fluffy potatoes, and cute little peas over an orange-hued romesco sauce. Ah! The potatoes were sooo good!!!

Eating a tender octopus dish

From the moment I gently sliced through the octopus with my knife, I could tell how incredibly tender it was. One bite confirmed it: it had been aged and cooked so moist and soft that it was practically tender enough to chew with your gums.

Pile the nutty, slightly spicy romesco sauce with the soft potatoes, mild peas, and octopus, and the flavors of the Mediterranean Sea gently bloom in your mouth. It was fresh, wholesome, and refined—such an excellent brunch dish!

Finishing with ice cream from the receipt-review event

A European-style meal simply isn’t complete without dessert, right? Billadeubeulleu Seongsu has a really sweet perk that you should make sure to claim after your meal.

It’s an ice cream dessert offered when you join the Naver receipt-review event! Finish your meal, write a review, and they bring you a high-quality dessert for free.

Cool, creamy vanilla ice cream was topped with nutty crumble, premium olive oil, and a light touch of pepper, leaving the palate fresh and sweet. The quality was so good that I could hardly believe it was a free event dessert; it felt like the perfect final period on a European-style course meal.

If you visit, don’t forget to join the review event and make sure you get dessert, too.

Billadeubeulleu Seongsu, which we visited this weekend, was a hugely satisfying Seoul Forest date spot with the full trio of atmosphere, delicious food, and service.

  • A relaxed atmosphere that feels like the Mediterranean: Sitting on the terrace in the sunshine with a warm breeze made brunch so leisurely that it washed away the fatigue of the workweek.
  • Standout Mediterranean food quality: From the waterfall of cheese on the lasagna to the melt-in-your-mouth Polpo octopus, both the visuals and flavors were excellent. It made me want to come back and work my way through the signature steak and other signature pastas, too.
  • Great value and service: The generous review-event dessert made the ending just as delightful.

If you’d like to enjoy a leisurely weekend brunch with someone you love on a crisp autumn day, head to Billadeubeulleu Seongsu! You’ll have a wonderful time that satisfies both your taste buds and your mood.
