Guro pub for lemon cream shrimp and potato cheese sticks: Monthly Beer

After eating cold pork belly, I really wanted a beer for round two, so I zoomed straight to Monthly Beer =3 I remembered how good the food was last time when I was looking for somewhere simple to drink in Guro. This time I kept it simple(?) with cream shrimp, potato cheese sticks, and a beer — and it was just as delicious haha. The Hoegaarden bottles were on discount so I ended up drinking six of them lol..

Last time I went I was hungry so I ordered meal-worthy dishes, and everything was great too, honestly~~

Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch gives a ₩7,000 discount to guests who arrive before 7pm, and soju and beer are ₩4,000. This is genuinely such a big plus..

With its soft lighting, Monthly Beer is a great vibe for drinking — a real Guro bar in the best sense! Even though it was a Monday, it seemed like a lot of exhausted people had come out for a drink haha.

I came for soju but this month's featured beer, Hoegaarden bottles, was such a sweet price at ₩3,900, so I switched over to Hoegaarden.

This Guro bar has so many good side dishes! Pizza, pasta, chicken, stir-fried dishes, soups, dried snacks, and even sweet desserts — they've got everything.

An easy round two: ordering lemon cream shrimp and potato cheese sticks

Since we were already full(?), we kept it simple! What we ordered at Monthly Beer were the lemon cream shrimp and potato cheese sticks.

The basic side snack is kkwaja — a mix of Jjanggu, Twister, and chicken-leg-shaped snacks — and I kept reaching for more haha.

It had been a while since I had Hoegaarden and it was so smooth and fragrant hahaha. A nostalgic beer from my twenties... You pour most of it into the glass, then give the bottle a little swirl at the end to raise the foam — it tastes even better that way with bottled beer~

Honestly, the reason I kept coming back to Monthly Beer was these potato cheese sticks..! I'd been wanting to try this kind of potato stick ever since I saw them at Shinjeon, and Monthly Beer was my first taste of them~~

This is the Sanha Kitchen x Monthly Beer collab lemon cream shrimp! Plump, chewy shrimp meet a refreshing lemon cream sauce — cream shrimp at its finest~ There are shrimp chips laid underneath haha.

What do the potato cheese sticks taste like?

The potato cheese sticks are fried crispy with a little sweet seasoning sprinkled on top! Sweet and delicious... dipped in ketchup, it's exactly the crunchy fried potato and gooey, stretchy cheese I was craving. It kind of gives potato-and-mozzarella corn dog vibes too? Anyway it's just so good ㅠㅠㅠ Turns out I really love potato cheese.. I want to stock up on these at home haha.

What does the lemon cream shrimp taste like?

The plump, springy shrimp pair perfectly with the sweet, creamy lemon cream sauce at this Guro bar — the lemon cream shrimp! It's sweet and so tasty... and thanks to the lemon, it never gets cloying so you just keep eating it haha. The shrimp are the perfect bite size, so they keep going endlessly with beer.. thanks to Monthly Beer's lemon cream shrimp, I ended up drinking six bottles.
