Sindang Chinese restaurant open until 2am: Lucky Dragon JCB

In short

Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang is a Chinese-style izakaya a short walk from Exit 4 of Sindang Station in Jung-gu, Seoul, serving until 2am. The order was char siu chahan (char siu fried rice), mapo tofu, chuka soba and a 125ml bottle of Yantai Special, putting rice, noodles and a main dish on one table; the mapo tofu was hot enough to raise a sweat and was the most memorable plate. Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang suits an evening when you want rich Chinese-style food and a drink together.

Where is Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang?

Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang is a Chinese restaurant on the 1st floor of 43-8 Dasan-ro 42-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's not far from Exit 4 of Sindang Station, so it's a decent spot for dinner after work.

There are so many good restaurants and drinking spots around Sindang these days. Today I want to write about my visit to Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang 😊

Wood-toned Chinese-style exterior with red accents

When I first arrived, the exterior itself felt a bit unique. Rather than a sleek, modern-looking Chinese restaurant, it had a wood-toned exterior with red accents, so it gave off a Chinese-style vibe even before stepping in.

Maybe because I visited at night, the lighting felt warm, and I could see through the window that there were quite a few people inside already. If you're looking for a late-night restaurant near Sindang Station, the hours are worth checking — Sunday closing time was listed a bit differently, so if you're planning a Sunday visit, double-check before you go!

Inside Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang: mood and seating

There were more customers inside Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang than I expected. The tables were lined up in rows, and overall it had a lively, bustling dinner atmosphere.

It's not so much a quiet restaurant as a good place to order tasty Chinese-style dishes with a friend, have a drink, and chat.

A lot of tables were looking over the menu and food kept coming out, so during peak dinner hours it might be good to visit with a bit of extra time.

What we ordered at Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang

At Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang we ordered char siu chahan (char siu fried rice), mapo tofu, chuka soba (Chinese-style noodle soup), and a 125ml bottle of Yantai Special. Looking at the menu, the range was surprisingly wide — rice dishes, noodles, simple plates, cooked dishes, and drinks.

When you go to a Chinese restaurant you want to try a bit of everything, haha. We ordered a spread of rice, noodles, and a spicy dish, which made for a good overall sampling.

A table set with char siu chahan, mapo tofu, and chuka soba

Ta-da~~ once the food arrived, the table got pretty full. The mapo tofu looked spicy just from the red sauce, and the char siu on top of the char siu chahan really caught the eye. With the chuka soba alongside, it was the perfect rice-noodle-dish combo.

How spicy is the mapo tofu?

First up, the mapo tofu! The mapo tofu at Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang was spicier than I expected. Not just a little kick — it was the kind of spicy that made me sweat a bit as I ate, haha.

The tofu was soft, and the sauce had a distinct, spice-forward flavor. Overall it leaned strongly Chinese-style, so if you usually enjoy mala flavors or spiced Chinese food, you'll probably love it. I like spicy food, but I still had to drink water in between bites, haha. Still, it's the kind of spicy that keeps you reaching for more, and it paired even better with the fried rice.

Char siu chahan: how the rice tastes

Next, the char siu chahan! This was fried rice topped with char siu, and I liked that the rice grains were nice and separate. Fried rice can get old fast if it's too wet or oily, but this one kept its rice texture intact, so it was easy to keep eating.

The char siu on top also looked great, and eating it with the fried rice added a salty flavor that made the dish satisfying on its own. Personally, I dipped a bit of the mapo tofu sauce onto the char siu chahan, which added some spice and worked well. Those who can't handle spice should be careful, but if you like it hot, I'd recommend trying that combo, haha.

Chuka soba topped with char siu, egg, seaweed, and menma

What does the chuka soba taste like?

The chuka soba had a flavor that pretty much everyone would like. The broth wasn't too intense, and the noodles and toppings were clean, so it paired well with the spicier mapo tofu.

It was topped with char siu, egg, seaweed, menma (fermented bamboo shoots), and fish cake, so the look was nice, and the broth was easy to drink without feeling heavy. If mapo tofu is the bold, strong flavor, chuka soba felt like the palate cleanser in between — I was glad we ordered both 😊

Who is Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang best for?

After trying everything, Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang felt like a place with quite a strong Chinese-style character. The mapo tofu in particular has clear aroma and spice, so it'll suit people who like bold, spicy Chinese food more than those who prefer mild, soft flavors.

On the other hand, the chuka soba is much more approachable, so it's a good order to add if it's your first visit.

A bottle and glass of Yantai Special 125ml

Pairing the food with Yantai Special 125ml

And it's hard to skip drinks with Chinese food, right, haha. We also ordered a 125ml bottle of Yantai Special. The dishes overall paired well with alcohol, so it worked nicely as a light dinner-and-drink combo.

A bite of mapo tofu, then some fried rice, then a sip of the chuka soba broth — the combination was pretty great. With everything spread out on the table, it was fun sharing bites with a friend.

  • Char siu chahan: a hearty rice dish
  • Mapo tofu: the spicy standout
  • Chuka soba: an easy, approachable noodle dish to pair with

All three had different flavor directions, so if you're visiting with a group, it's a good idea to split up the orders. Personally, the mapo tofu left the biggest impression on me. It was quite spicy, so I ate it sweating, haha, but the flavor was that distinct — the kind that stays on your mind.

If you want bold Chinese-style dishes with a drink near Sindang Station, Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang is worth checking out. Since it's open late some nights, it also works as a dinner spot or a second stop, and it'll suit people who enjoy a lively atmosphere. Next time I'm in the area, I'd like to try some of the other dishes on the menu too~~ 😊
