Gangnam terrace bar for fried shrimp and highballs: Sokcho Ojingeo

These days the sun feels warm during the day and the evenings turn cool, so it's the perfect season for a terrace gathering. Worried I'd miss this window, I made plans with a friend. My friend is an absolute terrace-dinner killer haha.

We visited Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch, a well-known Gangnam sashimi restaurant. The terrace doesn't have many seats, but we got lucky and grabbed one, ate well, and came back to write this review. Let's get into it.

Where is Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch, and is there parking?

Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch is about a 10-minute walk from Yeoksam Station, and also about a 15-minute walk from Gangnam Station, so if you're using the Sinbundang Line, walking from Gangnam Station works fine too. I bothered transferring at Yeoksam Station, but that wasn't even necessary.

Parking is available too, so driving is an option, but if you're planning to drink, I'd recommend public transit.

Private indoor seats and outdoor terrace seats in Gangnam

The thing I liked most the moment I walked in was that every seat is privately separated from the others. Thanks to that, we weren't bothered by glances or noise from other tables and could chat comfortably among ourselves — I thought it'd be a great spot for gatherings or work dinners with friends.

One of the biggest reasons to visit Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang is the appealing outdoor terrace seating. Enjoying fresh seafood in a cool breeze gives you a real sense of openness, almost like you've come out to the seaside. The day I went there was a slight wind, but it was still plenty comfortable to enjoy the terrace.

There weren't many seats, but there was distance and separation between tables, and the seats themselves were comfortable. I loved the terrace seating completely. Once October hits it might get too cold to sit outside, so enjoy the terrace season while you can!

What we ordered at Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang

The menu is really varied — from sashimi like halibut and rockfish to steamed scallops, rockfish soup, red seabream, and a lot of things I personally love. I went back and forth between mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and halibut sashimi, but ended up ordering the flying fish roe cuttlefish sashimi.

What's on the self-serve side dish bar

Most of the side dishes were at the self-serve bar — seaweed soup, white kimchi, lettuce, corn kernels, all the classic sashimi restaurant staples were there.

How does the cuttlefish sashimi with flying fish roe taste?

Here it comes — the flying fish roe cuttlefish sashimi. It was my first time trying this dish, and it came piled high with flying fish roe over fresh cuttlefish.

The cuttlefish sashimi was incredibly springy — great texture and great flavor from the flesh. My friend had recommended it saying it was delicious, and it really was.

I tried it with the white kimchi, and that pairing worked really well too.

It went well with the flying fish roe too, and tasted great.

Seaweed sheets came alongside as well, and wrapping the sashimi in them was delicious too, believe it or not.

Fried shrimp: 6 pieces for 13,000 won

Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang's fried shrimp is also delicious, and at 6 pieces for ₩13,000 it's affordably priced too. Wondering why the photo only shows four pieces? We ate the rest before I even got the camera out.

The batter was crispy and the shrimp was springy — really good. I always recommend the fried shrimp.

In this post I shared my visit to Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch, a sashimi restaurant right in the middle of Gangnam where you can taste plenty of freshness. The food was high quality and delicious, but what stuck with me most was the terrace atmosphere — enjoying the cool breeze outdoors was such an appealing experience. On top of that, Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang is quite affordable compared to typical Gangnam prices, making it great value for a stress-free night out. For anyone who likes grabbing drinks with good seafood snacks with friends after work, I'd recommend this place without hesitation.
