My husband and I had plans near Hwajeong Station and were trying to figure out what to eat for lunch when we found Min Cook Dasima, a Hwajeong lunch spot! From the solid weekday lunch discount to the quality of the sushi itself, it was a satisfying meal — here's my post about Min Cook Dasima.
250m from Hwajeong Station Exit 1, 2nd floor of Jinsol Plaza
Min Cook Dasima is about 250m from Hwajeong Station Exit 1, so it's easy to get to by public transit! It's on the 2nd floor of Jinsol Plaza.

Getting off on the 2nd floor, I saw the Blue Ribbon mark, the Goyang tourism recommended restaurant sign, and even the Hundred-Year Store certification..!! It's the first sushi restaurant in Goyang to be selected as a Hundred-Year Store. I was excited even before eating.

A spacious interior with group tables and bar seats for solo diners
The interior was spacious with plenty of table seats, including lots of seating good for groups. We visited on a weekday lunch, and there were many groups of office workers coming in! It already seemed to be a famous lunch spot near Hwajeong Station.

There are also bar seats set up that are great for eating alone!

A pre-meal porridge came out, and its nutty flavor was just right for whetting the appetite. I was starving, and it gently soothed my stomach.

Weekday lunch discount: sushi set meal ₩19,500 / special ₩25,000
We visited during weekday lunch hours, so we could take advantage of the lunch discount. My husband added kake soba to his sushi set meal, and I ordered the special sushi set meal.

The sushi set meal comes with 9 pieces of assorted sushi, salad, Japanese-style steamed egg, kimchi, tempura, and miso soup. The special set adds sashimi on top of that. The table was fully loaded, and the sushi looked great too. The special set was discounted from ₩30,000 to ₩25,000, and the regular set from ₩25,000 to ₩19,500. That's a solid discount rate, so I'd recommend it as a lunch spot near Hwajeong Station.

Thick 9-piece sushi, with or without wasabi
The sushi itself — the real star! The thick cuts made my mouth water. I'd really been wanting to find a great sushi place lately, and mission accomplished..!! You can choose whether or not you want wasabi when ordering, which would make this a good spot to bring kids too.

The classic salmon and flounder stood out for their thick slices! They melted in my mouth.

The sushi looked great from the start and the quality showed too — the 9-piece assortment was varied and satisfying.

The egg sushi, which I love, was a standout too — such soft egg! It was a shame every time a piece disappeared.
Dip it in soy sauce and...!! If you're looking for a sushi spot in Ilsan, you have to come to Min Cook Dasima.

The sashimi included in the special sushi set meal
This is the sashimi that comes with the special sushi set meal. It was made up of flounder, tuna, and salmon, two pieces each, which my husband and I split one piece at a time.

The slices were thick and satisfying — the sashimi was fresh and the thickness gave a nice chew!
Steamed egg, tempura, and salad on the side
The set comes with either Japanese-style steamed egg or rolled egg. The steamed egg we got that day was bouncy yet soft, the kind you scrape the bowl clean for.

The tempura included shrimp, sweet pumpkin, and shishito pepper. We came for lunch, but it was the kind of flavor that made me crave a beer..! It'd be great with a drink in the evening too.
My personal favorite of the day was the sweet pumpkin tempura! Thick slices of pumpkin, sweet and exactly my type. I ended up stealing my husband's share too..

And the shrimp tempura, need I say more..? Savory shrimp, crispy and good.

The salad was refreshing too, great for perking up the palate between bites. Eating only sushi can get monotonous, but the well-rounded set kept things interesting.

Adding kake soba — how much do you get?
This is the kake soba my husband added. He's usually a soba lover and had been torn between the soba-sushi set and this one, but seeing that you could add kake soba, he went with the sushi set plus kake soba. The portion was bigger than expected, and the soba broth was clean and refreshing — just right.

You can park at the E-mart Hwajeong branch, so keep that in mind before visiting!
