Gwacheon duck BBQ restaurant, Sunday 30-minute wait: Deo Chadol

Hi everyone~ 😊 Today I've got a review of Deo Chadol, a restaurant in Gwacheon that's become a really hot spot for family outings lately! Gwacheon has so many places worth visiting with kids — the National Science Museum, Seoul Grand Park, Seoul Land, Let's Run Park, haha. It's a nice date course too, but there's a real cluster of kid-friendly spots, so a lot of families seem to come out here.

I visited Deo Chadol for dinner after a trip to the Gwacheon racecourse! The location was great and the duck meat was delicious, but on top of that, it had a private room, baby chairs, and even marble ice cream, so it looked like a good spot to bring kids 👶🍦 Honestly there were a lot of family tables around us, and every single kid seemed to be eating marble ice cream lol. Seeing that, I ended up getting one too... haha. So let's get into my honest review of Deo Chadol, a great place to take kids in Gwacheon, and their duck brisket and duck stir-fry!

Where is Deo Chadol in Gwacheon, and what are the hours?

Deo Chadol is on the 1st floor at 5 Dwitgol 2-ro, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, open 11:00–21:30. It has private rooms fully set up and baby chairs ready to go.

It's also a convenient stop after visiting the Gwacheon National Science Museum, Seoul Grand Park, or Seoul Land, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're looking for a family dinner spot.

How long is the Sunday evening wait at Deo Chadol?

We visited on a Sunday evening, and as expected for such a popular place, there was quite a wait ㅠㅠ We waited about 30–40 minutes before getting seated. Still, there was a separate waiting area outside with water provided, so it was more comfortable than I expected, haha.

That said, waiting 30–40 minutes isn't exactly easy with a kid in tow 🥲 If you're planning a weekend family dinner here, I'd recommend booking ahead!

Inside Deo Chadol: tidy tables and private rooms

The interior was pretty clean overall. What I especially liked was that there's a separate private room! When you're eating with kids, sometimes you get self-conscious about nearby tables, so if you want your family to eat a bit more comfortably, the room is a nice option.

Even without a room, the partitions between regular tables were quite high, so it felt separated from the tables next to us. With baby chairs on hand too, I personally thought this was a pretty solid setup for anyone looking for a kid-friendly restaurant in Gwacheon 👶✨

Deo Chadol menu and prices: duck brisket and courses

You can order easily from the tablet at each table. The signature menu items are

Grilled duck brisket (chadol), 180g per serving / ₩19,000 Raw duck stir-fry (jumulleok), 200g per serving / ₩18,000

That's what's on offer, and for anyone who wants to try both the brisket and the stir-fry, there are course menus too!

If you're visiting as a family, ordering the course menu to share a few different dishes seemed like a good idea. Weekend extras included dishes like perilla oil makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) and buckwheat mul-makguksu that pair well with the duck, priced around ₩7,000–9,000.

Marble ice cream at Deo Chadol that kids love 🍦

And here's another reason this place seemed great to visit with kids! They sell marble ice cream lol. Marble ice cream at a duck BBQ restaurant... boss, you get it 🤣 There were 4 flavors total — chocolate, banana, rainbow, and more.

When I visited, I noticed the family tables nearby all had kids holding a cup of it lol. Being able to wrap up dessert for the kids right after the meal seemed pretty convenient for the parents too.

How the Deo Chadol receipt review event works

At the time of my visit, they were also running a receipt review event! If you wrote a review, you could pick one of: grilled cheese, canned drink, americano, peach iced tea, or frozen persimmon iced tea. We ordered the Deo Chadol couple course + chocolate marble ice cream + the review-event grilled cheese, haha.

The self-serve banchan bar at Deo Chadol

There's a self-serve bar set up on one side of the restaurant. It had a variety of side dishes that go well with duck — cabbage salad, wrap vegetables, pickled radish, green onion kimchi, and more.

At first the basic side dishes are brought to you, and after that you can grab as much as you want from the self-serve bar. Visiting with a kid can make it a hassle to keep asking for more banchan (side dishes), so being able to just grab what you need seemed convenient too.

Grilled duck brisket at Deo Chadol: how it tasted 🦆

The duck brisket finally arrived! This was actually my first time ever trying duck chadol as a dish. The meat was thicker than I expected and the portion was pretty generous.

It came with minari (water celery), onion, and mushrooms alongside the meat, so the spread felt well put-together, haha. Grilling the vegetables together with the duck gave it a nice aroma and cut down on any greasiness.

And the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) that came with it! This was genuinely delicious ㅠㅠ I ended up adding an extra bowl of rice and ate it all up quite happily.

I also grilled up the cheese I got from the review event 🧀 I'm a big cheese person, so I had high expectations, and it didn't disappoint. Grilled lightly on the pan, the outside turned golden while the inside stretched out beautifully — putting it on a piece of duck chadol along with some sauce gave it a whole different feel! It's a dish kids would love too, haha. So for anyone looking for a family restaurant in Gwacheon, I'd recommend the duck chadol 👍

Fresh duck stir-fry (jumulleok) at Deo Chadol: how it tasted

Once we'd mostly finished the duck brisket, we called the staff over and they brought out the next dish, the duck stir-fry. Where the brisket had a clean, nutty flavor, the stir-fry had its own charm thanks to the added seasoning. Cooking it together with all the vegetables made it really tasty, haha.

After filling up on meat, I got one more chocolate marble ice cream on the way out lol. Finishing off duck with something cool and sweet was just perfect. Now I get why every kid around us had one in hand... 🤣

Verdict: is Deo Chadol worth it for a Gwacheon family dinner with kids?

Gwacheon has so many places to visit with kids — the National Science Museum, Seoul Grand Park, Seoul Land — that a lot of families come out for weekend outings. Deo Chadol has baby chairs ready, private rooms available, and even marble ice cream that kids love, making it a good option for a family meal.

Most of all, duck chadol isn't a common dish, but it turned out to be cleaner and nuttier than I expected, and getting to try the duck stir-fry alongside it made the meal satisfying, haha. There can be a wait on weekends, so I'd recommend booking ahead if you can!
