Kiosk side dish refills and a wax swap at Izawa near Yeouido Station
In short
Izawa Yeouido Direct Store is a tabletop-grill gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) Japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building right by Exit 5 of Yeouido Station in Seoul. The writer ordered the gyukatsu set for 18,000 won, grilled it on a mini charcoal brazier, dipped it in wasabi, yuzu sauce and soy sauce, ordered extra salad through the kiosk, and had a staff member proactively swap in fresh wax when the fire weakened. With its clean interior and attentive service, it's a solid pick for a Yeouido lunch or dinner date.

Already a well-known Yeouido spot you can trust — Izawa is the perfect place for a date

How famous is it? Lim Young-woong and Hibab's signatures are right there at the entrance 🤩

One bite and you immediately understand why so many celebrities have stopped by this Yeouido favorite

Inside the thin, crisply fried breading

...juicy, moist beef in perfect harmony — it melted in my mouth and was absolutely dreamy. My review of Izawa, the perfect Yeouido date restaurant 💕

Right in front of Yeouido Station Exit 5 — easy to find
The location was really easy to find!

Coming out of Yeouido Station Exit 5, it's on the 2nd floor of the building right in front, and if you drive, you can use the ground-floor parking lot for 1 hour. Going up to the 2nd floor, there was a cute poster on the door

...so you could check the menu, and since there's usually a wait, there was a notice saying that when your turn comes up, everyone in your group needs to be present to be seated.

Window seats, solo seats — the atmosphere inside
The interior was full of warmth — there were window seats for two, solo dining seats, and tables that could seat four, all set up in a variety of ways. Cute little props were placed here and there, so looking around the restaurant was fun in itself~

Izawa's menu and prices
Ordering was done via kiosk. The menu included the steki set (no breading) at ₩18,000, the gyukatsu set at ₩18,000, and the gyukatsu double set at ₩33,000

Pork jowl bowl ₩13,500, gyudon ₩12,000 Karai ramen (spicy ramen) ₩12,000, basil ramen ₩12,000, mazesoba ₩12,000, pan-momil ₩9,500, double pan-momil ₩14,000, curry udon ₩13,000 Set menu: gyukatsu + gyukatsu + drink for ₩36,500

Mini curry ₩4,000, extra steki beef ₩15,000, extra gyukatsu beef ₩15,000, rice ₩1,000

Highball (original) ₩10,000, Sapporo draft beer at ₩7,900 with a 3+1 promotion, plus various zero-sugar drinks and sparkling water. Of all that, I just ordered the gyukatsu.

From mini brazier setup to the gyukatsu table spread
After ordering, they set up the mini charcoal brazier first

While waiting for the food to come out of the kitchen

...I looked over the various celebrity signatures posted above the kitchen and checked out the review event too. Not long after, my gyukatsu arrived — fast-food speed!

Just look at this gyukatsu, so vividly red ♥️ On the plate: salad, wasabi, pickled ginger,

...yuzu sauce, soy sauce, dried radish greens, and cubed radish kimchi as side dishes

...plus a generous serving of soup and rice. After checking out the spread, I got straight to grilling 🥩 Writing this now makes me want to eat it again..🥹 That sizzling sound is insane — pure ASMR that gets my saliva going 🫢 The evenly grilled gyukatsu...

Salt, yuzu sauce, soy sauce — but wasabi is still the essential
Dipping it in the salt on the table was delicious too, and the combo with soy sauce and yuzu sauce was excellent as well, but wasabi is still the essential! The nose-clearing fresh wasabi paired with the juicy, tender, melting gyukatsu was a perfect match ❤️

Side dishes refilled via kiosk, wax swapped without asking
If I ran out of side dishes while eating, I could easily order more through the kiosk

...so I requested extra salad and enjoyed it alongside my meal. Midway through the meal, without me asking, a staff member noticed the fire had weakened and added fresh wax, so I could finish eating warm to the very end! So thoughtful 🫶🏻

The restaurant is clean, the food is excellent, and the staff are super kind, so I highly recommend Izawa as a great Yeouido date spot. If you're looking for a delicious lunch or dinner place in Yeouido, this is where you should go 🎀
