You know how it goes sometimes with brunch spots — the photos look gorgeous, but the food doesn't quite live up to it. Prices can be pretty high while the taste is just average, or there's nothing special beyond the atmosphere.

Couple Set A for two, from 51,000 won

This time we ordered Couple Set A. It includes a salad, a pizza, and a pasta or risotto plus two drinks, with a base price of ₩51,000 — extra charges may apply depending on what you choose. We went with the garden salad, Margherita pizza, and abalone risotto, and ordered orange juice and grapefruit juice alongside.

The portion was plenty for two, and since you get to try a variety of dishes at once, it was a great set to share. The garden salad had a nice crunchy texture. The tangy dressing perked up our appetite before the main dishes arrived — it was light and easy to eat, and paired well with what came next.

The basil Margherita pizza had a thin, chewy crust that stood out. The tomato sauce and cheese blended nicely together, bringing out a deep basil flavor. It was good with the salad, and we kept reaching for another slice between bites of risotto too.

The abalone risotto that stood out most

Personally, the dish I enjoyed most at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch that day was the abalone risotto. The rich, savory cream sauce let the chewy texture of the abalone really come through. Even with a cream base it wasn't overly heavy, and I happily finished it to the last spoonful. Sipping the orange juice and grapefruit juice cleansed the palate nicely, and the whole set worked well together.

What I liked just as much as the food was the space itself at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch. High ceilings and large windows meant it never felt cramped stepping in. During the day, natural light pours in through the windows, giving the whole place a bright, relaxed mood. The European-style interior with vintage touches didn't feel overdone, and there were plenty of nice spots for photos. Even during busy hours, the wide table spacing meant we could chat comfortably with our company while eating.
