I came for the jjamppong but ended up getting wrecked by everything else on the table. The jjamppong has a deep broth and tons of seafood, the jajangmyeon nails that classic sweet-salty combo with soft meat, and the sticky rice sweet and sour pork was chewy and amazing. Even the jjamppong fried dumplings that came as a service were incredible — this jjamppong specialist in Sinjung-dong is legit.

I'd been meaning to try Jjambbong Jijon's jjamppong for a while, and today was finally the day. The building is easy to spot even from a distance. They open early, so I swung by for an early meal. Drinking the jjamppong broth straight sounded like it would give me energy — off I went to this made-to-order jjamppong specialist, a well-known spot in Sinjung-dong.

The Bucheon Jung-dong branch just hit its 5th anniversary. Word of mouth turned it into a real Bucheon favorite, and they had a jajangmyeon discount going to celebrate — you'd be missing out not to grab that! Parking is available here too, which is convenient if you're driving in.

10am on a Sunday: the room and seating at Jjambbong Jijon
Inside, Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon Jung-dong is split into two seating blocks. The interior is clean and bright thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
It was just past 10am on a Sunday and a few tables were already eating, including a family with a kid. I thought we'd be the earliest ones there, but of course a good restaurant doesn't care what time it is. What surprised me even more was the steady stream of delivery orders going out — one after another. Craving a soupy breakfast? Jjamppong's the answer. Smart choice, honestly haha.

What's at the unlimited drink self-bar?
The self-serve corner is one of Jjambbong Jijon's signature features. Omija tea, maesil (plum) juice, coffee and more are all set out to help yourself to as much as you want. I used it mid-meal too. There's also danmuji (pickled radish), jjasai (pickled cucumber), bean sprouts, kimchi, onion, cheongyang chili and chunjang seasoning, rice, water, small plates, scissors, an apron, a baby spoon, a fork, tongs, and a ladle — just grab whatever you need.

There are even palate-cleansing candies for after your meal~

Jjambbong Jijon menu and spice levels 1 to 4
Everything at Jjambbong Jijon is cooked to order. There are four types of sweet and sour pork — jijon (signature), jiok (fire), sichuan, and sticky rice. Jjamppong comes as jijon, jiok, sujebi (hand-torn noodle), soft tofu, jjamppong rice, or jjamppong noodles — lots of ways to go. For spice lovers, there's a choice of levels 1 through 4.

Jijon and jiok jajang rice and jajangmyeon are also on offer, with the same spice levels 1 through 4 as the jjamppong. And of course there's jjamjjamyeon (half jjamppong, half jajangmyeon)~ There's also crab fried rice and shrimp fried rice, plus cold noodles in summer, fried dumplings, and both alcohol and soft drinks.

What we ordered at Jjambbong Jijon and what it cost
- Sticky rice sweet and sour pork, small, sauce on the side (₩19,000)
- Jjamjjamyeon x 2 (₩14,000 each)
- Complimentary jjamppong fried dumplings
You can join the review service once per table, so go ahead and write a review to get a 500ml drink or 5 dumplings on the house~ Skip it and you'll regret it, haha. The real jjamppong fried dumplings are highly recommended!!!

Sticky rice sweet and sour pork (small), sauce on the side: 19,000 won
Sticky rice sweet and sour pork, small size. Chewy texture combined with tender pork — this sweet and sour pork was so, so, so good.

First off, the pork was tender with zero off smell, packed with lean meat. The sticky rice coating was crisp, and there were two thick-cut fried sweet potato pieces on the side. This was the first dish I reached for, and I fell for it so hard that I didn't get around to the other food until later. Came for the jjamppong, got wrecked by the sticky rice sweet and sour pork instead haha.
Jjamjjamyeon, 14,000 won: jjamppong loaded with scallops
Jjamjjamyeon. Like a needle and thread, where jjamppong goes, jajang follows. Let's gooo~

Jjambbong Jijon's signature dish! Loaded with seafood, vegetables and meat — the jjamppong. I came to Jjambbong Jijon for jjamppong jjamppong jjamppong, so let's dig in properly. This place that's all-in on jjamppong — my heart's racing for my first taste.

It's got pork as the base, plus squid and scallops. What I especially loved about the Bucheon Jung-dong branch was just how many scallops were in there. I've never had jjamppong with this many scallops before. And they were fresh and plump too, which made it even better. The broth, deepened by the meat and seafood base and a hint of wok hei, was rich and full-bodied. I get now why this place is known as a jjamppong hotspot people seek out.

Jijon jajangmyeon, the other half of the bowl
Jijon jajangmyeon — the original jajangmyeon that brings back old-school memories! That irresistible sweet-salty combo. Jajangmyeon!
The sauce is generously loaded but never too salty, and honestly delicious. Makes you want rice to mix it with, haha. Chewy noodles, a rich and flavorful jajang sauce — mixing it all together, I somehow cleaned the sauce off completely too.

Free jjamppong fried dumplings from the review service
Fried dumplings that look perfectly crispy just from the photo. I love this kind of service~ Finding this Sinjung-dong favorite, Jjambbong Jijon, early in the morning was so worth it.

These aren't just regular fried dumplings — they're jjamppong fried dumplings! Warm, crisp outside and tender inside, made with 100% domestic pork. A flavor you can't find anywhere else. Definitely try these alongside your meal~ Such delicious dumplings! Even though I was already full, I couldn't stop eating them, haha. They're slightly spicy, which actually made them easier to keep eating and got my appetite going even more. This Sinjung-dong favorite isn't just great for its main dishes — it's a fried dumpling spot too~~~

I mixed up a dipping sauce using the sauce container on the table. I didn't realize the dumplings were already a bit spicy, so in hindsight the chili flakes I added weren't really necessary.

Is Jjambbong Jijon worth it for breakfast in Bucheon?
Jjambbong Jijon, a jjamppong specialist in Bucheon I visited on a Sunday morning. I'd ordered generously thinking I'd pack up the leftovers, but we cleaned every plate — can you believe it? A genuinely delicious, honest review.
