What Moana Burger looks like outside and inside

The store is 5 minutes by car from Gangmun Beach and about 10 minutes from Gyeongpo Beach, so it's an easy stop to add to a Gangneung itinerary!

The interior is done up in black tones with surfboards and plants, giving it a strong exotic vibe. The tables have plenty of space between them and there are enough seats that you can eat comfortably.

Moana Burger, a handmade burger restaurant and Gangneung favorite, allows dogs indoors. The owner was so kind and clearly welcomed dogs, so I got to eat comfortably with my dog Sarang.

The owner's own dog, Yeoreum, who's basically the store mascot, is always around too — such a gentle, affectionate pup that I totally fell for her... not a secret anymore!🤍

If you bring your pet, a leash or carrier is required, and there are hooks at the tables to hang your leash on — good to know before you visit :)

The menu ranges from the signature Moana Burger to a Hawaiian Burger and a double burger, along with sides like fries and buffalo wings, so you can order to your taste.

Drinks and beer are also kept in a fridge, so you can just grab whatever you'd like yourself.

The Moana Burger is pretty large, with a golden-toasted bun packed with patty, cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomato all stacked up — just looking at it felt satisfying.

One bite in, the thick patty released a burst of juicy, deep flavor, and the salty cheese paired really well with the crisp vegetables — genuinely delicious.

The Hawaiian Burger, 15,000 won

The Hawaiian Burger we also ordered had pineapple added, making for a memorable sweet-and-salty combo.

The pineapple's sweet, refreshing juice blended well between the salty patty and cheese, and thanks to that juiciness it never felt greasy — easy to eat all the way through.

A flower-pin gift for our dog and the verdict on Moana Burger

As a little extra, the owner gave us a flower pin — it's actually meant for people, but I clipped it onto Sarang and it was so cute, haha. The little thoughtful touches made this handmade burger place in Gangneung feel complete, and we're already planning to go back on our next Gangneung trip!

Moana Burger is the place to get a proper handmade burger in Chodang-dong — thick patties and fresh vegetables packed in generously made for a filling meal, and with fries included free alongside every burger, it felt like great value too.
