Cheese bacon fries swap at a Gwanggyo burger restaurant: Base Burger

I've been going to Gwanggyo about twice a week lately. Today was a full hospital day — neurosurgery outpatient care in the morning and rehab in the afternoon. I ate way too much at the hospital's basement food court during my last stay, so I really didn't want to eat there again. While hunting for good places nearby, I've basically been checking off my hospital wish list one by one — jjajangmyeon, burgers, tuna, you name it.

Among the Gwanggyo Avenue France restaurants, there's a burger joint, so I went to check it out :) Base Burger's Avenue France branch is about 8 minutes from Ajou University. Great location, and honestly, parking was super convenient.

There's even a Lotte Mart and Daiso downstairs for shopping, and the European-style street-shopping-center vibe is really charming. From the basement level up to the 2nd floor, there's a dense mix of restaurants, cafés, and everyday amenities, so it's a popular spot for dates, family meals, or office worker lunches :)

Base Burger has been popping up everywhere as a famous handmade burger spot in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon lately. There isn't one near where I live, so I was already curious — finding out there was one in Gwanggyo Avenue France made me so happy.

Is Base Burger comfortable for eating alone?

The interior has a calm, pretty wood-tone café feel :) There were quite a lot of tables, set up as 2- and 4-person tables, so it's a space that feels unpressured for office workers or solo diners.

The free unlimited potato chip bar at Base Burger

The service bar was the first thing that caught my eye after ordering. Base Burger lets you eat unlimited potato chips for free. Wait, what?! I love potato chips, and they're free?! It would go so well with beer, but since we had afternoon appointments, we held back.

Aren't Base Burger's ketchup and mayo so cute?! They're not the shared communal tubs but individually wrapped sauces, which felt more hygienic and I liked that. I had some, then went back for a refill >_<

Loaded with shrimp, and the wasabi mayo has a subtle kick that's totally my style. The grilled onions inside are a real highlight, too 👍 I wanted even more grilled onion >_<

Double Base Burger, 11,900 won, and the Base Chili Mozza Cheese Bar

My husband's Double Base Burger, ₩11,900. Base Burger lets you swap the bun for lettuce, which is great for anyone dieting or skipping bread — I love that it's a selectable option. We're bun people though, so we stuck with the regular order haha.

The new Chili Mozza Cheese Bar my husband was so curious about! It's been super hot on social media lately — actually, my husband was developing the sauce and cheese for this about 3 months ago, planning to bring it in as a bar snack, before the trend even took off haha.

Wow~~ the cheese stretches so well, this is the whole appeal, right?! I expected a sweet chili when I heard 'chili sauce,' but it wasn't that at all haha. It's a bit — actually, a little — spicy. But you keep thinking about it haha. Dipped in ranch sauce, I was like, what is this?! The spice mellows out, and it's chewy and crispy — I get why this is so popular 👍👍

The lettuce and vegetables inside are genuinely fresh. The meat patty is so soft, and the juicy meatiness pairs perfectly with the sauce — a truly great handmade burger 🤎🤎 The patty is so good that I'd say go for the Double Base Burger ~~ enjoy it♥

It's close to Gwanggyo Jungang Station, Gwanggyo Cafe Street, Ajou University, Suwon World Cup Stadium, and Gwanggyo Lake Park, all within bus or walking distance, so it's great for a date or a get-together with friends. Also recommended for office workers eating solo!
