Ansan tteokbokki restaurant for kids: Yum Bbokki’s rose set

In short

Yum Bbokki is a Korean snack restaurant in Ansan, Gyeonggi, serving tteokbokki sets with fried snacks, rice balls, and fish cake soup. The family ordered mild rose tteokbokki, Sweet Cheese Chicken, and Coolpis for a generous weekend meal. Verdict: a reliably kid-friendly tteokbokki favorite.

Why is Yum Bbokki great to visit with kids?

When I ask, “What should we eat this weekend?” my two kids immediately shout “Yum Bbokki!” at the same time. 🤣 We order delivery often, and on weekends we even go out to eat there—it’s truly one of our regular spots. It’s definitely passed the kids’ taste test, so we do not even have to agonize over the menu. We try other places and end up coming back to Yum Bbokki, so I have no choice but to acknowledge it as a real favorite.

What happens when you add rose tteokbokki to the Pujimi Yum 2 set?

Pujimi Yum 2—three servings of tteokbokki, a fried snack set, DIY tuna rice balls, and fish cake soup—is ₩20,500. Switching to rose sauce costs an extra ₩2,000, and Sweet Cheese Chicken is ₩6,500.

This set brings out three servings of rose tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), a fried snack set of gim mari (seaweed rolls) and squid fish cakes, DIY tuna rice balls, and fish cake soup all at once. We always switch the tteokbokki to rose sauce and order it mild. This combination is just right when eating with the kids. Maybe because it is rose sauce, the broth is creamy, and the mild spice means the kids can eat it without any trouble.

The rose tteokbokki is just so delicious. We have tried cream, jjajang (black bean sauce), and the original, but rose is exactly right for our family’s taste! The fish cake soup is lovely to have alongside it while it is warm. My younger six-year-old found the tteokbokki a little spicy, so she drank the fish cake broth the most. It is savory and salty, and there is nothing that goes better with tteokbokki than eating it with fish cakes. 👍

The kids either shape the DIY tuna rice balls into little rounds themselves or scoop them up like regular rice. With so many things to taste throughout the meal, there was no time to get bored.

The fried snack set came out nicely crisp too, and once you dip it in the tteokbokki sauce, you cannot stop! There is plenty even for a family of four, so when the kids are little like ours, we sometimes leave a little. This time, though, we finished every last bit and were absolutely stuffed!

Should you order Sweet Cheese Chicken as a side?

It is boneless chicken generously topped with house-made Sweet Cheese seasoning. Just as its name suggests, it is sweet and salty, so it is the dish the kids reach for first—and the one that disappears first. People do not say it is a flavor you keep thinking about after ordering it just once for no reason.

Because the kids always ask us to order it, we got to taste some too~ Since it is boneless, there are no bones to pick out, and I cannot think of a more convenient chicken dish for feeding kids. It goes wonderfully with tteokbokki, completing that sweet-and-salty combination.

It is perfect with Coolpis, too!

Tteokbokki and Coolpis are a perfect pairing. Even though we ordered mild spice, having it with Coolpis made everything go down cleanly and feel even more refreshing. The kids’ expressions change the moment the Coolpis arrives, too. We do not normally give them drinks separately, but tteokbokki and Coolpis are basically the standard pairing. It may not seem like much, but this one combination really raises how satisfying the meal is.

A regular weekend meal that never disappoints, for delivery or dining in

For a mom who loves tteokbokki, there is no need to ask: Yum Bbokki! My daughter knows how much I love tteokbokki—when she was in kindergarten, she even drew me tteokbokki as a birthday present. It never disappoints whether we get delivery or go in person, so it has firmly become our household’s regular weekend meal. It is in a tutoring-school area with lots of middle and high school students, and it is nice that you can try individual portions in original, rose, cream, or jjajang flavors. If you are looking for a good-value tteokbokki restaurant in Ansan to visit with kids, I recommend Yum Bbokki. ❤️
