Gangneung café for a family break with sea views: Baegya Coffee
In short
Baegya Coffee is a large bakery café overlooking Sacheon Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon. We enjoyed corn ice cream, a sandwich, and grapefruit ade by the window, with kid-friendly indoor seating and easy parking. Verdict: a lovely family stop for a restful beach-view break.

Gangneung ocean-view café Baegya Coffee (백야커피)
I’d love to introduce the café that stayed with me most from a recent trip to Gangneung with the kids~ It has been a little while since we went, but I keep thinking about it and already want to go back soon, so I really had to share this charming place!

What Was the Sacheon Beach Wave View Like?
I found Baegya Coffee near Gyeongpodae while searching for an ocean-view café in Gangneung; it was large and well reviewed, so we decided to go. The whole building has the grand feel of a huge bakery café, so it caught my eye even from afar.

The sky was a little dark and overcast that day, but once we went inside and looked out the window, the rough white waves crashing onto Sacheon Beach in Gangneung were absolutely spectacular~ Lots of cafés fade from memory after a visit, but the Sacheon Beach view I saw here is still so charming that I keep thinking about it. I wondered whether there could be another ocean-view café in Gangneung where you can just sit blankly, taking in such a wide-open sea view. Looking out the window melted away all my tiredness, and it was one of those moments when the time with my children felt especially precious and grateful.

Oksigi Ice Cream and Sandwiches Together
We couldn’t leave out tasty desserts, so we grabbed a seat first and went down to the first floor to choose from the menu. We ordered the French Reserve Sandwich (₩8,200), Grapefruit Ade (₩7,200), and Baegya Coffee’s signature Oksigi Ice Cream (₩6,500), for a total of ₩21,900.

The Oksigi Ice Cream was so striking even visually, and its nutty yet sweet flavor was truly excellent. The kids loved it after just one bite, and I thought, “I’m so glad I brought them here.” The French Reserve Sandwich was generously filled and perfect when we were feeling peckish. And perhaps because it uses pure 100% fruit Adimans purée, the Grapefruit Ade had such an intensely refreshing flavor—the combination was absolutely perfect. If you visit Baegya Coffee, this ocean-view café in Gangneung, I really recommend trying these three together. (It was late afternoon, so I’m very sad that I didn’t get to try the coffee.)

What to Know When Visiting with Children
Baegya Coffee was fun to explore because every floor has a different atmosphere. The first floor is the bakery and café space for ordering, pickup, and returns, while the second floor has a NIGHT concept and the third floor a WHITE concept, both with stylish interiors. On the fourth-floor rooftop, there are even Sky Stairs for getting some great photos.
Before visiting, I heard there was a no-kids zone and worried a little about whether we could go with the children. But when we got there, I found that children were not banned from the café; only the outdoor terrace and rooftop, which have railings or height, were designated no-kids zones for their safety. Every indoor space was freely available with children, which actually made me feel reassured as a parent and very satisfied! High chairs were well provided, and the parking lot in front of the café was easy to use, making it just right for families.
Best of all, it is open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. without a day off, so I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a café open during the Chuseok holiday. If you are searching for an ocean-view café in Gangneung, it is the perfect place to relax with your family over delicious desserts.

Baegya Coffee, which we found during our tiring Gangneung trip, was a gift-like space where we could enjoy a perfect rest with the kids. The wide-open Sacheon Beach wave view, delicious desserts, and spaces designed with children’s safety in mind made us so satisfied that I still keep thinking about it. We are planning another Gangneung trip in autumn, and from now on, I will definitely visit again whenever I go to Gangneung!
