I went to Daehangno to see a friend's show and was trying to figure out what to eat beforehand — that day I was really craving something western, like pasta. While searching around Hyehwa Station, I found this place: Omil!
The interior was cute and warm, so it worked great as a pre- or post-show meal in Daehangno, and also as a Hyehwa date spot, a place to meet friends, or even a blind date location!! Let me introduce Omil.
Where is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, and what are its hours?
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is on the 2nd floor at 35 Daemyeong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea, about a 2-minute walk from Hyehwa Station Exit 4. It's open daily from 11:30 to 21:15, last order at 20:30, with a break time of 15:15–16:30 on weekdays and no break time on weekends or holidays.
The location itself won me over since it's so close to Hyehwa Station. Daehangno shows run on a fixed schedule, so you end up thinking a lot about travel time before eating — being close to the station and easy to move around within the Daehangno area made planning much easier. A solid location for anyone catching a show in Daehangno and looking for somewhere to eat.
Inside Omil Hyehwa Daehangno: interior and seating
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is on the 2nd floor, and the interior overall feels bright and warm. Cute little props are placed here and there, giving it a casual yet emotional atmosphere.

Seating isn't just one type — there are window bar tables and cozy wall-side sofa seats among various options.

That makes it comfortable for eating with friends, and the atmosphere is nice for sitting face-to-face and chatting, so it seemed like it'd work well for a Hyehwa date or blind date spot too.

Sometimes a too-formal restaurant feels like a lot, but a too-casual one leaves you wanting more, right? Omil sits right in that middle ground!

The restroom is also inside the restaurant.
Omil's menu and how to order at the table
At Omil, you order through the Tag Here tablet attached to the table.

We ordered the gochujang butter pasta at ₩18,900, buckwheat soba maki (buckwheat noodle roll) at ₩12,900, and salmon steak gnocchi at ₩19,900.
There are also a variety of set menus, and since the pasta, gnocchi, and soba maki all have different flavor styles that don't overlap, if you're visiting with a group, I'd recommend ordering a variety and sharing!
Gochujang butter pasta, 18,900 won: how it tastes
Omil's gochujang butter pasta is ₩18,900, and the name alone made me curious.

A big chunk of butter sits on top of the spicy gochujang-based pasta, along with thick slices of grilled meat, so it looked pretty hearty from the start.

Once you mix it well, the butter slowly melts over the hot noodles and blends with the gochujang sauce.

The first bite hits you with gochujang's spicy, deep umami, followed by the melted butter's nutty, smooth flavor! It's not just spicy because of the gochujang, and not just greasy because of the butter — the balance between the two was really good.

The sauce itself is thick and clings heavily to the noodles. It's a fusion pasta with a Korean spicy kick added, so even people who aren't big fans of the greasiness of cream-based pastas would probably enjoy it.
Buckwheat soba maki, 12,900 won: the palate-cleansing side
Omil's buckwheat soba maki (buckwheat noodle roll) is ₩12,900 — instead of rice, it's rolled tightly with well-boiled buckwheat noodles.

Inside there's crunchy vegetables and sweet Japanese-style rolled egg.

There's actually a cute little face on the cross-section of the rolled egg, so I had to snap a photo the moment it arrived haha. The nutty buckwheat noodles, soft sweet egg, and crunchy vegetables together made for a fun texture, and it's already seasoned so it goes down cleanly even without extra sauce!

Taking a bite of this between rich, sauce-heavy dishes like the pasta or gnocchi felt like it cleaned up the palate, so it worked great as a side.
Salmon steak gnocchi, 19,900 won
The salmon steak gnocchi is ₩19,900, a dish that lets you enjoy a thick, grilled salmon steak and gnocchi together on one plate.

The salmon is seared to a golden brown on the surface, keeping the outside's nutty flavor alive while the inside stays moist and tender.

Breaking the salmon into big chunks, dipping it thoroughly in the sauce, and eating it together with the gnocchi was so good! The gnocchi texture especially stood out — golden and slightly crispy outside, chewy and springy inside.
There's also a self-service bar! It has water, pickles, hair ties, chargers, and wet wipes.
Is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno worth it before a Daehangno show?
I visited Omil Hyehwa Daehangno after craving something western while heading to see a friend's show in Daehangno. Compared to a typical pasta place, each menu item had its own fusion twist, which made it memorable.
Above all, being just a 2-minute walk from Hyehwa Station Exit 4 makes it easy to fit into a schedule around a Daehangno show! The interior is bright and cute, so it seems like it'd work well not just for meeting friends but also for a Hyehwa date or blind date spot.
If you're craving something a bit different from plain pasta, or looking for a good pasta spot in Hyehwa or a date restaurant in Daehangno, Omil is worth trying for its fusion western menu.
