Dongnae lunch set in Busan: ssambap and sotbap at Yukmildo

Today I'm posting about a Dongnae meat restaurant, Yukmildo Dongnae Direct Branch.

I needed to have a meal with my parents in Dongnae and was racking my brain over where to go, when I found a place doing a pretty solid Dongnae lunch special, so I went!

Where is Yukmildo Dongnae Direct Branch, and what are the hours?

Yukmildo Dongnae Direct Branch sits right in front of Suan Station Exit 1! It's near Dongnae Megamart.

Hours are daily 11:00–23:00, with a break time from 15:00–17:00, and last order at 22:00.

It's a Dongnae meat restaurant, but it's open from daytime too — a Dongnae lunch recommendation, a Dongnae lunch meat spot!

A Dongnae restaurant with parking. There's a parking lot attached, so it's easy to park if you come by car! Not many Dongnae meat restaurants have parking, which can be a real hassle sometimes..

I think this used to be a sukiyaki place — did Mokmok or Shabu All Day take it over? haha

Inside Yukmildo Dongnae Direct Branch: is it good for group meals?

The place is really big and clean!! There are room-like spaces too, so if you're looking for a Dongnae group meal spot, take a look. The partitions are all drawn shut too, which keeps it neat and private!

Here's the Yukmildo menu. I ordered the lunch special, ssambap jeongsik, and since a jjigae (stew) comes with it individually, you just need to pick which one you want.

Looking around, about half the tables were having the lunch special and half were grilling meat. The meat looked genuinely delicious too..

Ssambap jeongsik side dishes and the refillable jeyuk bokkeum

First, the side dishes were laid out — fish cake, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), sweet corn, perilla leaves, lettuce for wrapping, salted squid, and more, all neatly arranged!

Since it's a ssambap jeongsik (wrapped rice set), cabbage leaves, kelp leaves, and seaweed came out for wrapping, and my mother loved it! A Dongnae family meal.

Meat is love, right? The jeyuk bokkeum (stir-fried pork) arrived, and it's refillable. But they gave us so much from the start.. we couldn't manage a refill.. so disappointing, I want more.. I was too full to even get a refill..

Steamed egg comes with it too! The gyeranjjim (steamed egg custard) was fluffy and delicious. A Dongnae restaurant.

Kimchi jjigae or cheonggukjang: which stew to pick

We tried one kimchi jjigae and one cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew). They come in stone pots, so it stayed warm to the very last bite, which I loved.

Tofu, meat, and kimchi went into it — exactly the kimchi jjigae flavor you'd hope for! haha The cheonggukjang had lots of clams in it too!

With all the side dishes, isn't it just right? Eating like this for lunch is so satisfying and good! Uh, wait, doesn't it look like there's no rice!?!?

That's because the rice comes as individual sotbap (stone-pot rice) like this. hahaha Sotbap is love, right!?

Scoop out the rice, pour in water~ wait for it, then eat the nurungji (scorched rice)~ hahaha the proper way to finish is with nurungji!

The jeyuk wasn't too salty and was tender and delicious, and true to the name ssambap jeongsik, wrapping it in leaves doubled the flavor! The cabbage wrap won first place.. huh, turns out I really like cabbage wraps? hahaha

Wrapping and eating, eating the meat plain, eating hard, and then the final gate — the nurungji. haha I'm the type to add quite a lot of water. It was perfect right to the end..! I nearly burst — I walked out clutching my stomach hahaha

Is Yukmildo Dongnae Direct Branch worth it with parents?

My mother said it was good and that she wants to come back again, so I thought, oh, I really found a good place. haha
