While staying at an Osiria accommodation nearby, I was looking for a good-vibe restaurant and ended up at The Barbecue 051. It seems like a lot of Busan restaurants have '051' in the name — I guess since Busan's area code is 051, it gives the name a real Busan feel haha.
Where is The Barbecue 051, and how close is it to Osiria?
The Barbecue 051 is on Gijanghaean-ro near Gijang Osiria, and it has its own private parking lot, so no worries about parking if you drive. It's a great spot to grab dinner after sightseeing around Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Ananti, the Donghae Busan Outlet, IKEA, and other nearby spots.
The location is a bit tricky to reach without a car, but thankfully there's a private parking lot, so visiting by car meant no parking worries!
What is the terrace and outdoor-grill atmosphere like at The Barbecue 051?
The highlight of The Barbecue 051 is the terrace seating surrounded by palm trees. It was really windy that day, so we ended up eating indoors.
The place itself is open and has an exotic vibe, almost like being at a resort. And the real highlight here is the terrace seating!
At night, the lighting turns soft and warm, and with the palm trees around, it felt like being on a trip even though it's just a BBQ place.
Once the weather gets a bit cooler, this terrace would be perfect for outdoor BBQ dining haha.
They also have a baby chair ready, and dogs are allowed on the terrace seats, so it looked like a solid option for anyone looking for a place to eat with their pet too.
What comes in the 2-person set: 5 skewers, whole pork belly and cubed pork shoulder
At The Barbecue 051, we ordered the 2-person set. Uniquely, it comes with 5 kinds of skewers included as a base, and you can pick 2 cuts from whole pork belly, cubed pork shoulder, or skirt meat.
The pre-grilled meat and skewers arrive together, and the generous portions made it look even more delicious! I liked that since it's pre-grilled, my clothes didn't end up smelling like smoke haha. The skewers had shrimp, bell pepper, green onion, and pork shoulder, among other things. And a staff member came over and explained each skewer as they set them on the grill — I really appreciated the level of service!
The unexpected winner: crispy pork skin
And the surprise was that the pork skin was genuinely delicious...! Dipped in a breadcrumb-like sauce, the outside turned crispy and savory — so good.
We ordered pork belly and cubed pork shoulder, but next time I'd like to try the skirt meat too.
Dipped in the onion sauce, the pork belly tasted exactly like the pork belly flavor we all know and love,
and you know pork shoulder needs to be eaten right after it's cooked through, right?
Like on our trip to Jeju Island, we also piled meat onto raw onion slices. Whether it was a good batch of onions or what, they were sweet and delicious!
We got so caught up eating meat that we almost forgot about the skewers haha. The green onion skewer and the shrimp-and-sausage skewer were the ones that suited my taste best.
You can grab your own lettuce wraps from the self-serve bar.
The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) has the distinctive flavor of soybean paste. My partner said it had a bit of a cheonggukjang (fermented soybean) vibe, but I actually found it savory and enjoyed it. If you're not a fan of that cheonggukjang-style flavor, it might not be for everyone.
Is The Barbecue 051 worth a visit on an Osiria trip?
What I liked most about The Barbecue 051 is that it's a BBQ place where you can enjoy the atmosphere just as much as the meat! Especially if you're traveling around Osiria or Songjeong, I think sightseeing during the day and coming here for terrace BBQ in the evening really captures that vacation feeling ☺️
