Gijang outlet lunch for two: oil pasta and cream risotto: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Restaurant is a pasta and risotto restaurant inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets in Gijang, Busan. Two diners stopped in mid-shopping and ordered napa cabbage Caesar salad, shrimp anchovy oil pasta, and abalone cream risotto, picking dishes whose sauces did not overlap. Mixing oil, cream, and salad kept the meal from feeling heavy, so even a party of two can share several dishes at Bueokgan.

Bueokgan Restaurant: a Western restaurant inside the Gijang Shinsegae outlet

Bueokgan Restaurant is a Western restaurant focused on pasta and risotto, located inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets. We stopped by for lunch after a round of shopping at the outlet. Walking around an outlet mall adds up to more steps than you'd expect, and you end up wondering where to eat halfway through — that day we weren't in the mood for something quick, but for pasta or risotto we could sit down and eat slowly. So we headed to Bueokgan Restaurant, right there inside the mall.

Because Bueokgan Restaurant sits inside the Shinsegae Premium Outlets, it's easy to pop into mid-shopping. No need to drive back out somewhere else, and you can head straight back to browsing the stores after eating — for outlet visitors, the location alone is pretty convenient.

The inside doesn't feel like a food court where you eat fast and leave — it felt more like a place to sit at a table and eat at ease. It seemed fine for a family meal or a couple's date too.

How two people split three dishes at Bueokgan

At Bueokgan Restaurant we ordered three dishes: napa cabbage Caesar salad, shrimp anchovy oil pasta, and abalone cream risotto. One salad, one pasta, one risotto — nothing overlapped, and it was great for sharing a variety. Ordering different dishes like this instead of just one menu for two of us made the meal more fun.

Napa cabbage Caesar salad

First, the napa cabbage (albaechu) Caesar salad looks a bit different from the leafy-greens Caesar salad you'd normally picture. Napa cabbage is the star, so it stands out visually the moment it lands on the table, and it worked well as a side alongside the pasta and risotto.

Eating the salad alongside a heavy dish like the cream risotto reset the palate each time, so the combination worked well. If we'd only ordered pasta and risotto, things might have felt heavy toward the end, but adding the salad made the whole lineup much better.

Shrimp anchovy oil pasta

The shrimp anchovy oil pasta is exactly what it sounds like — an oil pasta with shrimp and anchovy. Since it's oil-based rather than cream or tomato, ordering it alongside the abalone cream risotto meant the flavor directions never clashed. It's an easy pick if you like seafood pasta with shrimp, or if you prefer oil pasta over anything too heavy on sauce.

If a group is visiting and sharing dishes, pairing it one-for-one with a cream-based dish would work well too.

Abalone cream risotto

And the abalone cream risotto we ordered alongside it. We picked this because pasta alone felt a little lacking, and we wanted a rice dish too. Being a soft, cream-based dish, it paired well for alternating bites with the shrimp anchovy oil pasta.

One oil pasta on one side, one cream risotto on the other — I liked being able to switch back and forth between two different flavors.

All three plates on one table: how the sauces worked together

Seeing all three dishes laid out on one table, it felt more filling than expected. Starting light with the napa cabbage Caesar salad, then alternating between the shrimp anchovy oil pasta and abalone cream risotto — I felt like we'd chosen well.

If you order only dishes from the same sauce family, you can get tired of it quickly, but with oil, cream, and salad all mixed in, we could eat with variety all the way through. If you're visiting as two and want to enjoy several dishes, this combination is worth referencing.

Wrapping up lunch at Bueokgan Restaurant

Why Bueokgan is an easy stop mid-shopping at the outlet

When picking a restaurant at an outlet mall, the menu matters, but how easy it is to get to matters surprisingly too. You get hungry while shopping, but going back out to the car feels like a hassle, and eating something too simple feels like a letdown — Bueokgan Restaurant was a good stop for exactly that kind of day.

We got to rest and eat properly mid-shopping, then easily head back out to browse. It also seemed like an easy place to bring family members who like pasta or risotto, since the menu isn't hard to choose from.

Is Bueokgan worth recommending for Western food in Gijang?

If you're looking for a lunch or dinner spot at the Gijang Shinsegae Premium Outlets, Bueokgan Restaurant is worth adding to your list. It's a good fit for days when you want pasta or risotto rather than Korean food or food court fare.

If you're searching for and visiting a Western restaurant in Gijang, ordering different dishes together like napa cabbage Caesar salad, shrimp anchovy oil pasta, and abalone cream risotto to share is a good approach.

We ordered all three together, and since nothing overlapped, the whole meal was easy to eat through, and the location made for a satisfying stop mid-shopping. I think I'll come back to this spot the next time I'm craving pasta or risotto at the Busan Premium Outlets.
