Cold udon restaurant in Gwanak, Seoul: a la carte ten bukkake, Kosi
In short
Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch is a Sanuki udon and tonkatsu restaurant at the start of Sharosu-gil, a 2-minute walk from Exit 5 of Seoul National University Entrance Station in Gwanak, Seoul. On a late weekend lunch the order was Sanuki ten bukkake udon at 11,000 won, half-and-half pork loin katsu at 13,500 won and lotus root kushikatsu at 4,000 won, all a la carte, yet each plate still came with inari sushi and salad. The cool cold udon and the rich cheese katsu balanced each other well enough to finish without getting sick of either.

I was looking for a late lunch spot near Seoul National University Entrance Station and ended up at Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch! Kosi is already famous in Konkuk and Seongsu, and it turns out they have a directly-run branch here too.
Where Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch is, plus hours and parking
Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch is at 466 Bongcheon-ro, 101ho, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, 144m (a 2-minute walk) from Exit 5 of Seoul National University Entrance Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 20:50, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00.
On weekends and holidays, if spots are open, you can get 1 hour of building parking. There are often extra spots available on the side of the building too, according to the signage.

Arrived~ The exterior was clean and pretty.

The ten bukkake, katsudon, and mixed katsu all looked delicious... They said this place only uses fresh noodles made the traditional 800-year-old Sanuki way, and the broth is brewed from anchovies and kelp sourced directly from the South Sea.

Seating for solo diners and how kiosk ordering works at Kosi
Walking into Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch, the seating was varied. With both bar seats and tables, it felt easy whether you're eating alone or on a date~

Ordering is done via kiosk, and it's prepaid, so you pay right there and then eat at your seat!
The menu ranges from various tonkatsu dishes to cold udon, hot udon, mazeudon, katsudon, and sides like korokke and tempura.
What we ordered at Kosi
- Sanuki ten bukkake udon ₩11,000
- Half-and-half pork loin katsu ₩13,500
- Lotus root kushikatsu ₩4,000
Sanuki ten bukkake udon, 11,000 won

This is a cool tsuyu-based cold udon topped with crispy tempura. Even ordered a la carte, it came out as a full spread.

You pour the cool tsuyu, served separately, over the noodles. The tempura included sweet pumpkin and shrimp! I was happy since those are two of my favorites haha

One piece of inari sushi also came with the meal! All the toppings go into the cold udon too.

Maybe because of the Sanuki noodle-making method, the noodles were nice and chewy. We talked about how the taste reminded us of a place we used to wait forever for.
Half-and-half fresh pork loin katsu, 13,500 won, with cheese katsu
The half-and-half katsu, also ordered a la carte, came out as a full spread! The kushikatsu side we'd ordered came out at the same time too. Eating it alongside the cold udon and tonkatsu, the heaviness of the fried food and the coolness of the cold udon complemented each other really well haha. If you're solo, going with a set instead of a la carte lets you enjoy both.

The plate combines pork loin katsu with cheese katsu. Eat it quickly before the cheese sets~.~

Salad dressing was drizzled on too, and the katsu/tempura sauces came in three kinds — Himalayan salt, tonkatsu sauce, and tartar sauce.

The cheese stretched so far... as it pulled apart, the savory flavor spread. Comparing the two halves back and forth, I ate the whole thing without getting tired of it haha
Lotus root kushikatsu, 4,000 won

This is a side dish of lotus root deep-fried on a skewer. It had that distinct crunchy texture and clean flavor of lotus root. A great side to pair with the mains!
Late weekend lunch mood at Kosi and the verdict
Even though we went for a late lunch on the weekend, there were quite a lot of people eating there... It seems like a great place for a comfortable meal! The staff were friendly too, and the menu itself feels like it would satisfy just about anyone, without much room for dislike.
