Watching patties grill at this Gwanak burger spot: Daily Fix

If you're into handmade burgers, you've probably heard of this place already — Daily Fix, known for hand-forming 100% Korean beef patties fresh every morning, just opened its fourth branch in Gwanak. With its flagship in Gangnam, this is my review of the new Seoul National University Entrance location.

2 minutes from Exit 2: location and parking

Being just two minutes from Exit 2 of Seoul National University Entrance Station made things super convenient, and with the Gwanak-gu Health Center and Sharosu-gil both within 10 minutes, the location was great. The exterior already has that New York vibe going on. There are chairs outside too, giving it a bit of an outdoor drinking-spot feel.

Solo-friendly bar seats and the vibe inside

Inside there's a bar table for solo diners as well as 2-seat tables, so eating alone here is completely doable. I saw someone eating solo while looking out the window too.

The casual atmosphere combined with wood interiors felt really comfortable, and I personally loved the yellow accent color.

Tablet ordering and what we got

We ordered through the tablet at the table. Since it was my first time here, I wasn't sure what to pick, but the photos attached to each item made choosing easy. I was torn between onion rings and fried eggplant for the side — I'm still curious about that eggplant, haha.

Whether it was luck of the seating or not, from where we sat we could see the patties and buns actually being grilled. That made waiting for the food genuinely fun, haha. The drinks came out first, and they were refillable.

Onion rings and Stella draft

The onion rings arrived first. Crispy and sweet enough that if I hadn't had plans afterward, I would've wanted a beer with them. Daily Fix has Stella draft on tap, and it would have paired perfectly with these.

This is what we ordered between the two of us, and it was more than enough to fill us up. For fries, you could choose thick-cut or thin-cut — I'd recommend the thick ones, though my friend was firmly on team thin, haha.

Classic cheeseburger

My friend ordered the classic cheeseburger. It has vegetables in it, so I'd recommend it to anyone who wants the balance of veggies rather than a purely heavy meat flavor.

We split it, and it was a familiar-but-scary-good handmade burger taste — familiar, but somehow even better warm with the Korean beef patty.

Ordered as a set with fries, it's plenty filling for a solid meal.

Bacon cheeseburger

If you like a heavy meaty aroma and juicy patties, I'd recommend the bacon cheeseburger! I picked it based on recommendations and it totally paid off. The bacon wasn't dry at all — it had real thickness and a satisfying chew, turns out it's house-made bacon aged for 100 hours.

The onion rings stayed crispy and sweet all the way through, and with the fries alongside, it made for a really hearty lunch.

To sum up

Daily Fix felt like the kind of place for a hearty meal at lunch and easygoing beer-and-burger time in the evening. The Korean beef patties and their own special sauce both added a lot to the burgers' flavor. Trying the onion rings made me even more curious about the fried eggplant. It was a satisfying meal, and now I want to check out the Gangnam flagship too — that's my review of Daily Fix at Seoul National University Entrance.
