With the year winding down and health on my mind, I've been trying to eat well, if not every day then at least sometimes. So after work recently, a friend and I headed to Salering, a poke dinner spot near Gyodae Station where you can eat light but still feel full and get balanced nutrition. It's a K bibim poke restaurant that blends Korean bibim (mixed rice) culture with Hawaiian poke — perfect for dieters, maintainers, and anyone serious about their health!

Where is Salering Gyodae Direct Store, and is there parking?

Salering Gyodae Direct Store is at 15 Seocho-daero 56-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exits 1 and 12 of Gyodae Station. It's close to the subway and there's parking right in front, so it was very easy to get to.

Salad has a reputation for being mostly vegetables — less filling, less tasty. But at Salering you can choose your base from brown rice, whole wheat pasta, or egg strips and vegetables, and compared to other poke and salad specialists, the portions were generous, so the fullness felt substantial too.

Inside Salering: seating and interior

The interior of Salering Gyodae Direct Store was bright and fresh with a white-and-wood color scheme, with everything from solo bar seats to tables for 2–4 people. With healthy pleasure being such a global buzzword these days, the place stayed busy with dine-in, takeout, and delivery customers alike.

Salering's menu: choosing toppings and bibim sauce

Here's the menu at Salering, a salad spot near Gyodae Station. Toppings ranged from tofu for those going vegan, to salmon, chicken breast, beef brisket, and steak — there was quite a variety. There's a protein rice bowl for those wanting high protein, and for a lighter meal you can skip the rice or noodles and go vegetables only, customizing everything to taste. They also have sandwiches, wraps, soup, coffee and tea, so adding a side makes for a hearty brunch too, and there are over ten house-developed bibim sauces, which was a nice little hidden kick worth adding on.

When you want to unwind after work but heavy, greasy, high-calorie food like samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) or gopchang (grilled intestines) feels like too much, this place sells wine and beer so you can enjoy a bibim poke and still feel healthy, guilt lessened. Salad actually pairs surprisingly well with beer and wine as a snack, so I thought pairing it with a drink in the evening would work nicely.

Sign noting the use of low-calorie brown rice and barley

There are many poke salad specialists these days, but this restaurant near Gyodae Station reportedly uses low-calorie brown rice and barley made with olive oil that lowers blood sugar impact by tenfold, and the main toppings and vegetables are increased in quantity, so you get a more generous and filling portion compared to other places.

Table set with bibim poke and pasta

Shrimp and scallop bibim poke with oriental dressing

My seafood-loving friend picked the shrimp scallop poke. The plump shrimp and scallops were grilled, giving them a smoky char along with a bouncy texture and nutty flavor.

The brown rice and barley, egg strips, garlic flakes, lettuce, mushrooms, red cabbage, and other vegetable toppings were all generously portioned.

She went with the oriental dressing, and even eaten plain, the fresh flavor of each ingredient came through nicely and tasted nutty and delicious. The popping texture of the brown rice and barley and its nutty flavor were especially outstanding.

As a salad spot near Gyodae Station, this place completely broke the stereotype that salad is tasteless and leaves you hungry — even my picky friend and I were both very satisfied with our dinner.

Table of Salering poke enjoyed for dinner

Chicken breast pepper pasta on a whole wheat base

As a noodle lover, I chose the chicken breast pepper pasta, made with a whole wheat pasta base topped with sous-vide chicken breast, lettuce, corn, garlic flakes and more — good for varied texture and packing in high protein.

Since the chicken breast was sous-vide, it was very tender and went well with the noodles, vegetables and other toppings.

I also liked that the whole wheat pasta meant less sugar impact, and overall I got a satisfying, healthy meal for the first time in a while.

Verdict: is Salering a good healthy dinner near Gyodae Station?

Salering, a poke dinner spot near Gyodae Station, turned out to be a genuinely healthy salad restaurant. With K bibim poke that incorporates Korean bibim culture and toppings more generous than at other poke specialists, I got quality fullness and nutrients. It broke the notion that salad is tasteless or unsatisfying, so if you want a healthy meal or are on a diet, I'd recommend stopping by.
